I stumbled on a link for his father...And FINALLY found out his mother' name and the name of his siblings because he apparently mentioned his mom and bro at one point.

I think the mom and bro thing was simply..."I got here because those two people were watching over me". We all do this when we escape disaster...or feel we lucked out...
