Jared Loughner, the suspect accused of killing six people and wounding 13 others Saturday, including Arizona Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, was described by friends and neighbors as a disturbed, pot-smoking loner who lived with his parents.
Additionally, sources tell CBS News that Loughner had made threats in the past and even interacted with Giffords in 2007.
CBS News Justice and Homeland Security correspondent Bob Orr said on "Face the Nation" Sunday, "We do know from our sources and from our national security analyst Juan Zarate that Loughner had an interaction once before with Congresswoman Giffords back in 2007, where he apparently posed a question to her, kind of a benign question.
"She answered the question; he didn't find it acceptable, he didn't like the answer," Orr said.
"In the time since then, investigators believe perhaps he was tracking her and targeting her in a very loose way," Orr told CBS chief Washington correspondent Bob Schieffer.

Hmmm. When did the Tea Party start. I think it was after 2007.
Ping.
As more of the truth comes out about this guy, the whole thing could very well disappear down the memory hole, along with Ted Kaczynski's copy of Al Gore's book and the Islamic motivations of the Ft. Hood shooter and the D.C. snipers.
No but that damn sheriff knew him!!!! and of him and what he was capable of...
Blind hatred.
Wow, this guy must have taken a particular interest in Alaska politics, for Sarah Palin to cause him to do this in 2007.
B..Bu..But -- how does this square with the msm's assertion that Sarah Palin made him do it?
Lets hope voters in that county remember this next time he's up for re-election.
The info about asking the representative a question and being unhappy with the answer was also mentioned by the shooters class and bandmate Caitie Parker here: ..http://bit.ly/f2xRhC (She sets the record straight-shooter was no conservative)
I wonder if this is why Sheriff Goebbels has lawyered up?
but but but - there’s was no Tea Party then -
oops
Well now it all makes sense..Sarah Palin IS involved, she obviously used time travel..damn, just when you think you know everything about her you find out that she is a magician
“a disturbed, pot-smoking loner who lived with his parents”
I guess if he was injured he would have been covered under his parents policy because of Obamacare.
BTW, the truth doesn’t matter. The left has nothing to lose by trying to pin this on the right, Tea Party, Palin, etc. Turns out it probably won’t stick (except with what I call the ‘rabid 27%’).
No problem. They quickly shifted to a new tactic. Now we hear “The overall tone of the political rhetoric has caused this”. Its kinda like Global Warming being changed to ‘Climate Change’. Now, no matter what this guy’s political leanings, the left will be able to USE this incident.
There is what I call an agnostic liberal where I work. He just doesn’t pay attention to get through the white noise of the media. I guarantee when I talk to him Monday morning, he’s gonna say ‘wow, that guy killed those people because of the TEA party’. I will have to educate him on the facts.
1. Nothing to do with TEA party.
2. The guy is a lone idiot - nobody’s fault but his own.
3. It is disgusting for anyone to try and score political points with this, especially before the bodies are even buried, or the wounded have even made it to the hospital.
I think one of the most important things we can do is personally educate people we know, who aren’t rabid liberals...but just don’t pay enough attention.
And the Sheriff has a lot to answer for, it would seem.
Many questioned whether the nation’s polarized political climate had played a role, even as Loughner’s political views remained unclear late Saturday.”
No, his political views remain unclear only to the willfully blind. His internet postings and the statements of friends and classmates define him very well.
It began after the famous "Tea Party Rant" by CNBC's Rick Santelli on the floor of the Chicago Mercantile on February 19, 2009.

No wonder the Sheriff is attacking the “vitriolic” airwaves.
In September of last year, Pima Community College was worried enough about Loughner that they had the police, not college officials, deliver notice of his suspension. He could return only if he obtained a clearance certifying that “in the opinion of a mental health professional, his presence at the College does not present a danger to himself or others.”
Now we learn that law enforcement knew of threats he made as far back as 2007.
He was too dangerous for community college and a known potential threat to Giffords but was able to pass a background check to buy a gun on November 30?
