(01-08) 22:24 PST WASHINGTON, CA (AP) --

Politicians of all stripes are bound to be haunted by Rep. Gabrielle Giffords' warning, 10 months before she was shot, to cool the rhetoric.

It’s funny how this “toxic political tone” began around the same time the DemocRATS began their dismantling of America. Probably just a coincidence.

This shooter was a follower of Nazism and Communism. We’ll see if any of our politicians bring this fact up. Until we outlaw Communism, this will continue and it will grow.

“toxic political tone” ?????

These people know nothing about the history of American politics. The 19th century and even the early 20th century was far more toxic, and unacceptable by today's standards of decency.

Exactly right. The Media are falling over themselves trying to manufacture Oklahoma City out of this.

Clearly “harsh politics” is the crude MSM doublethink meme of the day.

In a manner of speaking, the Democrats and their MSM buddies behaved as atrocious bullies since the previous election, but now that the Republican have the House, they are demanding that the Republicans have to behave, cooperate, and be harmonious with the Democrat agenda.

But make no mistake, the *only* thing Democrats will accept will be capitulation to everything they want. Otherwise, and as we’re seeing right now, they are and will continue to blame Republicans for anything they can.

Fairness, politeness, cooperation, and harmony in government is a two way street. And right now Democrats are as deeply in debt of these things as the fiscal hole they left for the country.

You mean Burr shooting Hamilton? Or the beatdown on the floor of congress by one member on another? With a cane.

Wow, look at that Democrat beating that poor Republican with his cane. Maybe that’s what Obama meant when he said “Get in their face”.

Yes that, and the many brutal political cartoons that showed up in early American newspapers.

First, let me say this, this attack is about as political as Hinkley shooting Reagan so he could maybe have a crack at removing Jodie Foster’s panties. There are no politics in this attack.

But since they want to discuss tone, consider this;
Ever notice, how they are the “correct” people and position, *by default*? If we oppose their agenda, we are causing strife. Our speech, opposing them, is “vitriol”. This is always the case, no matter how civil we are. Does anyone remember Boehner opening the process in the house to include democrats? Of course not, that was *last week*. Does anyone remember Harry moving to end filibuster rules to remove power from the resurgent repubs? Of course not, that was *last week* too.

Of course, the strife and vitriol could just as easily be avoided, by them going along with the conservative agenda. That should be reasonable. After all, that is precisely the solution they offer us,, stop opposing them so there will be peace. This unfortunate congresswoman was condemning vitriol, and tone,, yet, she insisted in imposing national heathcare behind closed doors, in votes “deemed” to pass, with her leadership stating things like “they are getting national healthcare whether they want it or not”.
Did she ever stand against that tone? Did she ever tell *her leadership* that they were acting like tyrants, and creating a lot of anger?

This is not so much politics, as it is a bad marriage with a shrew, a shrew who blames YOU for the discord that results from your justified effort to resist her bullying.

And last of all, this entire incident has nothing to do with “tone”. The guy who did it was a lunatic schizophprenic. If politics didn’t set him off, his dog would have told him to do it, or he would have thought there was a spaceship behing the comet. He is also supposed to be into the 2012 thing.

The only evidence of “tone” is an INSTANT effort by the news media to make this into a political attack, when it was a nothing but case of mental illness.
Are we supposed to tippy toe in politics so we don’t set off a mad man out in his lonely bedroom? Please.

And to clarify, for those who will get a case of the vapors. The “shrew” i refer to is the democrat party, NOT this lady who i hope recovers quickly.

****It’s funny how this “toxic political tone” began around the same time the DemocRATS began their dismantling of America. Probably just a coincidence.***

It used to be Republicans vs Democrats with no real difference.

Now it is Republicans vs Democrats who are shilling for socialists and Communists.

***The 19th century and even the early 20th century was far more toxic***

I am reminded of when two policticans got into an altercation on the floor of the Arkansas Legislature and one stabbed the other to death with a bowie knife.
