I wonder if Rep. Giffords has now been purposefully put into an induced coma to allow brain swelling (which could kill her) to abate. This is frequently done.

Can anyone imagine a bullet going in one side from close range, then through the brain and out the other side as claimed?

And then right after she was shot she miraculously was following testing commands while the paramedics and doctors were attending her.

Praise God from whom all blessings flow....and pray hard for the lady that she has the fullest recovery possible.

Wife had a stroke several yrs ago. The Dr’s induced coma because of swelling in brain, plus the fact they did surgery implanting a shunt. They also mounted her head into a steel brace to prevent her from moving.

A wound (stoke, or in this case bullet wound)presents blood around the brain and, though it’s a person own blood it acts as a poison to the brain in the person afflicted.

Well, I hit the nail on the head in my post (maybe a poor choice of words....). They have induced a coma to reduce the deadly effects of brain swelling from inflammation.

They also cut and removed one side of her skull and put it into refrigeration so that (simply put in layman's terms) the brain has room to expand on that side if it swells precipitiously in the next couple days.

Damn! Poor lady. This is just awful.

It appears her wound was in the left side to front part of her brain, missing any vital regulatory functions. She will have some motor and probably speech deficits, and who knows what else. Yes the coma is most likely induced.
