Following the shooting of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-Ariz.), some Democrats are targeting political rhetoric they say could encourage violent behavior.

Steve Israel, chairman of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, said the event was "both a personal tragedy and a tragic reminder that we cannot remain silent when political rhetoric turns violent."

Sen. Frank Lautenberg (D-N.J.) said, "America must not tolerate violence or inflammatory rhetoric that incites political violence."

"Even though we do not have all the answers yet, we are all too familiar with the violent and polarizing climate in which we live," said Rep. Emanuel Cleaver (D-Mo.), the new chairman of the Congressional Black Caucus. "Those of us in leadership must be overly cautious of fanning the flames of extremism in hopes to prevent another horrendous tragedy such as this."

The Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence called for a return to civil political discourse.

The rest of his readings lead one to believe he had issues with accepting reality.

Those two I cited simply help foster his insane ideals of reality.

More proof liberals have mental problems and can not discern reality.

They then should stop calling people Nazis and crazies when they shove crap down our throats. I guess they think we should all be nice little peons and accept anything they decide is best for us How about blaming the damn little commie who pulled the trigger instead of everyone else?!

““inflamatory rhetoric” = telling the truth about leftists, their beliefs, and their goals”

Exactly!

“If people are ripping your face off, you have to rip their face off” (Pelosi’s approach to handling attacks from Republicans).

“If you take the knife off the table, it’s not very frightening anymore” (her explanation for why she won’t let voters forget George W. Bush.

The Left uses violent and inflammatory language all the time.

Remember Obama's "If they bring a knife to the fight, we bring a gun" remark? If a lefty spouts any remark about violent right-wing rhetoric, point out Obama's own remarks.

Put our boot on their neck - Obama admin

Get up in their faces - Obama admin

Someone with the skills should compile a lot of the rhetoric that the Dims and their supporters have been spouting.

If a GOP rep. had been targeted we can only imagine the talk coming from the media and the Dems today. This was the act of a lone nut, with no ideology, etc. They would do everything they could to downplay any connection to the left.

No, they would have spun it as a "chickens coming home to roost" moment, saying "It's the Republicans own fault for starting with the violent rhetoric!".

As to “...we cannot remain silent when political rhetoric turns violent.” He is correct. The guilty cannot keep their mouths shut when their inflammatory rhetoric drives their constituents to violence. They will shift blame, accuse their opponents, deny culpability and accuse everyone standing around them rather than accept a modicum of responsibility.
The Democrat party in the person if its head, Barack Obama, is directly and absolutely responsible for this massacre. Obama specifically and directly ordered his followers to bring a gun when they perceive their enemies are using a knife. He deliberately recommended overkill as a necessary response to opposition.
As to Sarah Palin. She is the most cheerful, gentle, caring personality in politics. Blaming her is an act of complete insanity.

Dear Emanuel Cleaver,

Maybe you should stop claiming you were spit on by Tea Party members for starters. Lies tend to polarize people especially when you are playing the race card.

Michael Savage Attacked by Congressman Steve Israel on Mexican Swine Flu

“The last thing our country needs is radio hosts spreading dangerous misinformation about the flu outbreak. But that’s exactly what we’re getting thanks to people like Michael Savage, Jay Severin and Neal Boortz. These right-wing demagogues are targeting America’s immigrant community and trying to turn a possible pandemic into politics.”

Steve Israel:

“As a Democrat who founded the Institute on the Holocaust and the Law, I have a lesson for Rush Limbaugh. Today, there are survivors of the Holocaust with tattoos stenciled on their arms who are registered Democrats. And he’s treated them with vile contempt. Limbaugh has the right to be the buffoon that he is. He has no right to compare any Americans to Nazis who exterminated 6 million Jews. I know he won’t apologize. I do expect my Republican colleagues to denounce his comments. The Holocaust taught us that silence in the face of evil expression becomes acquiescence to evil. And what Limbaugh said is pure evil.”

Steve Israel, meanwhile, is a nasty little shill who continued to knowingly distort Rush Limbaugh’s “phony soldiers” comment.

“Steve Israel, a candidate for the 2nd Congressional District in New York, has attacked his opponent, John Gomez, with information he knows to be false and used Project Vote Smart’s name to give his accusations credibility.

This kind of negative campaign activity deliberately deceives voters and is precisely the sort of tactic that the Project attempts to counter with its factual database. By using the Project’s name to give credibility to these attacks, Steve Israel is cheating the public out of their need for trusted, abundant, accurate information.

Vote Smart prohibits the use of its name and programs, including the Political Courage Test, in partisan political advertising.  All candidates in New York have been notified of this policy in writing. Additionally, this policy is posted prominently on the Project Vote Smart website.

May such people publically embarrass themselves to a terminal degree repeatedly like a broken record until they are ashamed to be seen getting a Big Mac or appearing in WalMart or driving a car.

I want to know if those persons (possibly DailyKos people), that made false facebook - myspace pages yesterday claiming to be Loughner will be investigated and possibly criminally charged for interfering with and or obstruction of a federal investigation of this crime?
