Following the shooting of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-Ariz.), some Democrats are targeting political rhetoric they say could encourage violent behavior.
Steve Israel, chairman of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, said the event was "both a personal tragedy and a tragic reminder that we cannot remain silent when political rhetoric turns violent."
Sen. Frank Lautenberg (D-N.J.) said, "America must not tolerate violence or inflammatory rhetoric that incites political violence."
"Even though we do not have all the answers yet, we are all too familiar with the violent and polarizing climate in which we live," said Rep. Emanuel Cleaver (D-Mo.), the new chairman of the Congressional Black Caucus. "Those of us in leadership must be overly cautious of fanning the flames of extremism in hopes to prevent another horrendous tragedy such as this."
The Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence called for a return to civil political discourse.

Excellent.
Of which this is a shining example.
To wit: innuendo suggesting that "inflammatory rhetoric," which is code for dissent, is the cause of this crime is itself inflammatory rhetoric.
Democrats...pot meet kettle.
The cheek of it. These guys invented nasty rhetoric and rewritten the book on it since 2008. They turned it on their in Hillary Clinton in the primaries.
Don’t try and BS us.
If you see this as nonsense, then you are not paying attention.
Consider the DHS report after Obama took office, citing the threat from conservatives. Consider the expanded powers of the FCC that have taken place.
Liberals have dreamed of silencing conservatives and the pieces are starting to fall into place. They are just hoping for the right "tragedy" to use as an excuse for implementation.
I fail to see any connection to opposing Obama and the Democrats and this attack by a lunatic. People should just keep on telling the truth about them. If they do not like it. Too bad. They are pathetic and desperate. The truth in this case is obvious. The Libs want to claim the opposition to big government is dangerous. Nothing could be further from the truth.
Nothing can inflame Americans more than trying to gag their free speech.
Keep it up lefties. You are digging your own hole.
Nothing devisive about them, ya' know!

Seems that scu*bag progressive-Democrats had nothing to say when visceral psychotic members of their constituencies boiled over with seething hatred and manifested it in toxic
rhetoric directed against the Bush administration and conservatives.
They also had nothing to say when Democrat-backed
SEIU thugs engaged in violence against conservative protesters.
They’re also silent when Democrats speak in terms of “fighting for their constituents” and when they use war rhetoric in describing their political activities.
Now they want to blame murder and assault by two individuals on those who voice opposition to their policies.
Absolutely amazing.
IMHO
Many of the killings in the world are by lefties (insane or not...on second thought, can you be a leftie and not be insane?). These rantings by the leftie/DIM/LIB/asshat/moonbat crowd are predictable and too much. Pot meet kettle. Maybe nobama’s often spoken rhetoric (e.g., get in their faces and so forth) has something to do with this murderous behavior.
From Goebbels Rules of Propaganda:

moment.
c. A propagnda theme must be repeated, but not beyond some point of diminishing effectiveness.
#14 Propagnda must label people and events with distinctive phrases and slogans.

b. they must be capable of being easily understood.
c. they must be utilized again and again, but only in appropriate situations.
d. They must be boomarang proof.
FYI
What we need is a Ft. Sumter.
You are correct...IN THIS CASE....but that did not stop them from laying the premise before anyone knew who the shooter was.
Next time, the guy might be a nutjob with connections to the Tea Party and/or conservatism, and then they will use that as the excuse.
If such comes to pass, will the completely silence us? Of course not, but they will make incremental progress towards it, like they do toward every part of their dicatatorial agenda.
In this case, the boldness of their charges prior to the facts demonstrates how desperate the liberals are becoming. Desperation breeds danger and needs to be watched closely.

Lautenberg has outlived his usefulness to America
Righto. But the Lib media has less creds now than ever and this shameless overt false slander will be exposed next week in spades. They will pay a heavy price on Monday when Rush gets hold of them. He has there words on tape. I can not wait for it.
It’s time to CENSURE on the HOuse Floor ANY CONGRESS CRITTER who REFUSES TO RETRACT statements implying that this is anything other than a LEFTY KOOK problem.
Watch for Sarah Palin and Michele Bachmann. Otherwise, don't hold your breath.
