Democrats always have to blame others for their own failures or just their bad luck, it is part of their DNA.

My Mother always told me Life isn’t fair. Democrats think they can make it fair, even if they punish another group to do it.

Using their mantra, since the Congresswoman was a Second Amendment supporter she must bear some responsibility for what happened to her. Ridiculous(?), you betcha...

Conflicting. One report stated a “shotgun” ... but another quoted a bystander as stating he “emptied two clips” ... So hard to know. I doubt it was a shotgun... or there would be no head left. Some of these people do not know a shotgun from a rifle... but then again, they also believe every firearm is an “assault rifle.”

Even a 22 cal will do a lot of damage because of the velocity.

Bullcrap ...”The whole tea party” is his daughter’s enemy??? WTF. Way to paint people with a broad brush. Not fair. I don’t understand why when a little nutcase of a punk goes on a shooting spree there’s all this wacked out talk against conservatives, republicans, etc. Talk about being out in left field. This country has lost it!

A 9mm? Really? First reports said that Gifford had a through-and-through at the temple. Followed by reports she “was following commands” at the hospital, I thought the only thing it could have been was a .22. But the body count doesn’t support that either.

I will agree it was not a shotgun.

I fear she will be blind....a bullet in that area could clip the optic nerves...one report said the bullet entered the temple and exited her forehead....which would do temporal lobe damage and may alter her personality if she survives. Sad...very sad. She is a beautiful woman who from all reports did a good job even tho’ she would not have been my candidate. She may have some residual damage much like a stroke....won’t know until her brain goes down from the swelling.

I thought it was odd when they said she was still in surgery and responsive because she almost surely would have been anesthetized for surgery.

If she was concerned about threats and if even her own family thought there was danger from millions of people as indicated by her father why no security? The left and the media reacted to today's shootings by taking the posture that naturally it is the Tea Party and Republicans. As if it was to be expected. In fact that is generally how things have been portrayed. OK, if that is the case then how could this obviously intelligent woman and her aides do a public event while all these "threats" were known? If they were so concerned why no security? If they were so concerned because of supposed threats why have the event? And the most important question, why did they not warn the public about the "danger"? Why would they allow the public to be in harms way? Children to be in harms way?

The Congresswoman's office is going to have to answer some questions if people connected to them keep saying that there were threats and "enemies" they were aware of. If there were aware of such dangers then they had a "responsibility" to protect themselves and the public.

Excuse me but my entire frontal lobe was reduced to ground meat after a head injury involving a freaked out horse and blacktop.

The “experts” told my dad that *if* I ever woke up, I’d be broccoli.

Perversely enough, not only did I *not* become an asparagus, my intellect actually increased by leaps and bounds.

I became interested in scientific theories I hadn’t cared about at all, before and taught myself Greek to read the NT in what was then the most “original” language.

Then I became fascinated by etymology, anthropology and archaeology.

Now, it’s computers, infrared/UV photography and dog genetics.

Not half bad for a carrot.

The brain is far wilier than you suspect.

Maybe by “responsive” they meant “breathing and heart is beating”.

I suspect you are the exception... Sort of a “tornado in a junkyard” living example.

If Giffords follows your pattern, perhaps she'll eventually make a positive contribution to society.

But we'll have to wait abd see, won't we?

Obviously, this is terrible, and the dude who did it needs to fry. But, as it stands, I'd be far more bummed out if this had happened in an every-day robbery to the (mostly illegal) crew at my local Wendy's.

Not odd at all. The brain doesn’t feel pain, it transmits pain.

doesn’t apply when it is brain surgery, they have to depend on the patient speaking in surgey so they know what they are hitting in there, watch brain surgery some time......... fascinating

I think it was reported that she was responding to commands which lead me to believe something along the lines of a hand squeeze or an eye blink.

Your post is very inspiring.

I’m glad you proved those “experts” wrong and recovered even better than you were before.
