Insanity has no political persuasion. This kid’s video, which I watched, was schizophrenic and psychotic.
To brand him a lefty makes us as bad as those who would brand him a righty.
He’s just nuts.
That is the bottom line. We should not get distracted by the actions of a single lunatic, and move on.
I can’t see video on my computer so I can’t tell what info is from his MySpace page which seems to be legitimate. Do I understand correctly that he was in the military and in college?
Does the military do any mental health screening? Sounds like his friends thought his problems were from alcohol and drugs. From what I’ve read, schizophrenia can mimic drug-like behavior. If he was in academia they probably wouldn’t notice schizophrenic behavior as long as he was using leftist and/or atheistic language, which would act like camouflage in that setting.
If it’s schizophrenia and he moved within leftist politics at least the immediate claims that it was spawned by the Tea Party or Sarah Palin would be absolutely refuted.
I hope they are able to help him get some sanity. I hope Giffords fully recovers. I hope the families of the victims are given much grace and love to get them through this. I hope the political trash-talk and libel is exposed. The whole situation is just incredibly sad.
