Does watching Fox News rot your brain? According to a report released last month by WorldPublicOpinion.org at the University of Maryland, "Misinformation and the 2010 Election," the more people watch Fox News, the more they are "misinformed."
The allegation rapidly became a favorite topic for leading mainstream news outlets including The New York Times, U.S. News and World Report, CBS News, Slate, The Atlantic. Even major newspapers in Canada and the U.K. covered the report. Of course, left-wing websites -- the Talking Point Memo, Media Matters, and the Daily Kos -- reveled in the findings.
The report asserted that Fox News viewers getting political survey questions wrong was not just the result of already wrongheaded Republicans watching Fox News: "The effect was also not simply a function of partisan bias, as people who voted Democratic and watched Fox News were also more likely to have such misinformation than those who did not watch it--though by a lesser margin than those who voted Republican."
But the researchers themselves were clearly misinformed and frequently picked incorrect or left-wing biased answers as the "correct" ones, something the uncritical mainstream media apparently never examined. Take the first four questions of the eleven the report focused on. . . .

Yet another gaggle of liberal elitists, self absorbed in the mis-conception they are more informed, and smarter than anyone else.
It is obvious, to any analyst, this study is skewed well beyond the scale of reality. This so called “study” amounts to little more than a progressive liberal’s wet dream.
Meanwhile, Fox News, and it’s viewers, are a progressive liberal’s worst nightmare. They awake in a state of panic, disillusion, sweat, and shortness of breathe, in the middle of every night. The cause of their anxiety? Fox News and it’s viewers.
Incredible video. Thanks for posting.
correction, we like hot women who are also 100x smarter than any leftist

Oh, yes...he’s not biased.
Elitist bastards...bump!
The lib media is going broke, while Fox goes to the bank. Go figure... LOL
Very nice research! Thank you!
“The WorldPublicOpinion.org survey is a mess. At best, the survey shows that liberals who conducted the survey simply were not smart or careful enough.”
Or.......they drew the conclusions they wanted to draw.
“If any conclusion can be drawn, it is that those who watched Fox News almost every day had not fallen for left-wing myths to the same extent as other Americans.”
You drew the correct conclusion. ;o)
My daddy was a meteorologist and could talk all day long about how the global warming nuts are wrong.
The only thing I dont like about Fox is Glenn Beck. He is an embarassment. Other than that I dont watch tv much, nothing better than this place to get news anyway and all channels these days are more into giving their opinion, as opposed to news which allows the viewer to formulate their own opinion.
And that’s a bad thing?
AM Bump. Bravo John Lott!
Here's one method: type the word you want to display with an accent into Google. Check down the first page (or two) to see if the word shows up on some webpage in it's accented form. For example, when I type "expose" in, I get, right on the first page that comes up, a link to an article on a band called "Exposé." I copy-and-paste that word into the "Your Reply" window on FR, and correct the case of the word's first letter, to get exposé.
I think there are other ways too; one is to compose your reply in MS Word and then select the "convert to HTML" option. This takes a lot more keystrokes though, and nets out to a lot more trouble. By the way, if you do the latter, remember to select "Convert to HTML (Filtered)." If you use the "un-filtered" option, the HTML source code it produces will include some personal information about you, like what name you used to register your copy of Word. exposé
Obviously
The real sucker here is whoever paid for that pile of BS survey.
Right...and only the “smart” people get their news from John Stewart and Stephen Colbert.
Not really. They got the propoganda they paid for.
No matter how sloppily or dishonestly done, nor how many times the poll is debunked, it is now out there and will be cited repeatedly, even by elected officials.
Liberals lie.
Nice Post. I’ve never seen this one.
