According to a new Zogby poll, New Jersey Governor Chris Christie leads other possible Republican presidential candidates and would beat President Obama in a hypothetical matchup.
Christies blunt talk about public employees and his aggressive actions on the New Jersey state budget have made him very popular both within the Republican Party and with independents, said pollster John Zogby. If he decided to run, Christie could quickly oust Romney as the favorite of establishment Republicans.
Our results are not good news for Palin, continued Zogby. She isnt winning independents, and despite her star power with conservatives, she is not their first choice to take on Obama.
Christie leads Obama 43 percent to 40 percent in a head-to-head contest. Former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney ties the president 41 percent to 41 percent. Both Christie and Romney lead the president among independent voters.

Yup. Contrast McCain telling some AZ lady in a townhall that Obama loves The Constitution. Then Christie being nice to a lady union teacher then lowering the boom on her. He also pounded some guy ina meeting who just started attacking him. Christie will not put up with their whining attacks.
He is a little different but a bit like Reagan. Reagan would be nice, witty and charming but he could be VERY tough. See him hammer two-faced RINO Poppy Bush in NH.
“I paid for this microphone!” The guys Poppy was trying to keep out of the deabte - John Anderson, Dole, Phil Crane and Howard Baker are their applauding Reagan and the NH crowd went nuts. I would have loved to have been there.
Reagan clinched the nomination that night. I love watching that on you tube. We should have picked Pete DuPont instead of Poppy in 1988.
He good but keep your eyes open to his views on gun control.
Bachmann? Love her. She is fearless.
TV is the enemy. They will work to destroy Palin, Bachmann or other conservatives. This includes our “friends” at Fox with Rove and Newt and other vermin they have on.
Zogby is an Arab who is sympathetic to Islam.
ZOGBY: Trying to mold the Presidential Race, again. I don’t dislike Christie, but there is a whole lot of liberal baggage that we haven’t hashed out.
I really don’t like pollsters manufacturing our news to shape our political future.
There need's to be a public education plan about this guy. Levin is working on it, but other conservative talkers and blogs need to join in.
New Jersey needs Christie. The nation does not!
It is truly hilarious how scared the liberal media and establishment Republicans are of Sarah Palin. It is equally hilarious how many on this forum can be so easily manipulated by the biased media’s attacks on Palin. Astroturfing must pay well because I see the same types of comments on Palin all over the Internet.
Take a deep breath. All will be sorted out during the primaries. If Palin runs, great. The more strong Conservatives we have in the mix the better. I am sick and tired of establishment retreads and media selected deadwood as our candidate.
The days of compromising (giving Demwits/liberals/progressives/socialists/statists whatever they want) ends now. Or else we become another fallen empire like England. And for those that did not read Mark Steyn’s piece “Dependence Day,” I would encourage you to thoughtfully read it. That is the future of the US if we keep electing inside the beltway establishment types and ivy league trained nitwits who think the Constituion is merely a bunch of nice suggestions.
What is your gig? You just got a thread pulled trashing Bachmann all in caps that you posted wrongly, now all in caps you trash Christie. We all know Christie is not perfect. But he isn’t hiding who he is. He hasn’t even said he is going to run. In fact, he says the opposite.
Heres some valium, you need it.
That is exactly how McNasty took the primaries. Too many losers and so few real choices. God help us if they try this again!
That’s bold, not capitalized.
Did a Television fall on you as a small child to send you on this singular jihad?
I cannot remember a post you left where TV was not the culprit, even in this situation were it was not even involved.
“Polls are designed to manipulate public opinion...”
Spot on. And to get us fighting amongst ourselves.
What we need to be concerned with is who in the end will fill the stage at the Iowa GOP Candidate Debate. There will be 8 to 10 candidates on stage. We need to make sure we fill it with the best possible conservative candidates to choose from, and pray it looks nothing like the stage in 2008.
Christie’s fix in NJ won’t fly nationally; too many people would see their goodies being cut. It is popular here in NJ because seniors are being forced out by high property taxes, so they’d support anything that will let them stay in-state if they so choose. Basically everyone in NJ sees the impact of the tax issue, and only the civil servants are opposed to fixing it. Christie has the support of just about everyone else in the state. I don’t know the nation would see this in the same light; NJ is closer to rock bottom than most other parts of the country.
Chris Christie has actually DONE very little, other than confront the unions in a couple of video ops. Let’s wait and see if he actually DOES anything about the unions.
As for Zogby, he is a Palestinian, and that is where his sympathies lie.
True, but the thread title that was pulled was all caps:)
Such anger
I agree with you on Christie. I love his style, but he is not good on the social issues or immigration.
Daniels has been good for the Indiana economy and he is also tough on unions. I don’t think I want him as President though.
Anybody else (besides me) heard that Trump is doing an exploratory in Iowa...? And considering a run?
Christie knows NJ is in dire straits, and that time is of the essence. He seems to be what the doctor ordered for NJ, but I don’t think his appeal would be national until all states are in the same mess as us. Even his Dem predecessors were sounding the alarm, but that was just lip service. Corzine did start the furloughs of state workers, but that was just a very small patch.
There are a variety of books and sources of information about Al Waleed with:
Fox - largest shareholder
GE (tens to hundreds of billions in joint ventures.)
Disney - second largest shareholder
Time Warner (CNN) possibly third largest indiviudal shareholder.
Viacom (deal with Kirsch)
Bloomberg access to islamic markets with SA as the gatekeeper.
The 6 networks control 95% of all the cable channels.
Major shareholder in Citcorp that was bailed out to the tune of $380 BILLION. No one ever talks about this. Almost 4 times AIG.
The Saudis bought America in 2008 with $700 million. You are just in denail. Things are going to get a lot worse. I hope you are preapred when your money is worthless and SS or your peension stops. Good luck sucker.
