Unconstitutional power grab. Regulatory assault. Job-killing scheme.
These are just a few of the phrases Rep. Fred Upton has used to described the Obama administration's bid to unilaterally regulate emissions through the EPA, in the absence of a comprehensive "cap-and-trade" energy bill. Upton's rhetoric, and his enthusiasm for defeating a host of new pollution rules, will get a powerful platform next session when he assumes the chairmanship of the House Energy and Commerce Committee.
"We will fight the administration's relentless assault on jobs -- and stop them from doing through regulation what they have been unable to accomplish through legislation," Upton told FoxNews.com in a written statement.

Looks like somebody finally decided what side his bread was buttered on.
Well I sure hope so.
It would be easier and quicker to do the following:
A letter to your senators and representatives:
Dear _______________, it has become increasingly obvious that the president intends to use the power of the MANY governmental agencies to bypass the will of the people and Congress. For that reason, it is imperative for Congress to reclaim the power it has abdicated to the executive branch. I propose a simple amendment that be put in EVERY bill voted on by Congress until it passes. The wording is as similar to the following:
“No government agency, organization, or entity created by Congress in the past or future shall have legislative or judicial powers. For the purpose of this amendment, legislative power shall be construed to mean the making of any rule violation of which renders a citizen, legal entity, corporation, or company of any state or the United States to imprisonment, fine, excessive or punitive fee, or other punishment. Judicial power shall be construed to mean, the holding of any evidentiary hearing not presided over by an Article III court or the issuance of findings which result in imprisonment, fine, or punishment of a citizen, legal entity, corporation, or company of any state or the United States.
Under this law, all current rules implemented by any government agency, organization, or entity created by Congress that has legislative or judiciary powers as defined above will become null and void five years from the date of passage unless approved by normal constitutional means.”
Please consider this carefully.
Sincerely, _____________
Could this man be concerned with the cost of replacing his front door?
Upton is a RINO’s RINO.
He was against light bulbs before he was for him.
Hopefully with some some clever redistricting here in MI not only can we send say Dingell to the politcal grave, but toss out a couple other thieves like Upton and rat Peters.
Upton, with his new position makes Boehner look weak.
Really weak.
To have Upton ahead of this committee is a travesty, and succumbs Boehner to a coward.
How is this a done deal? Isn't there a vote among republicans for the committee chairs at the start of the new congress?
It’s been like domino’s. Many of the government agencies are now making up their own laws and rules, even though they can’t and regardless of what the Constitution says. They’ve gone rouge. It’s time to defund every single one of them.
That’s excellent!!!! Thank you!!!
Please send it to you representative and senators and to everyone you know. Well, at least everyone who is politically active.
Will do!!!!
It always falls butter side down.... To catch it.
The Republicans are going to have to get behind this guy from day one and continue the mantra, day in and day out, that the Obama EPA is killing jobs and to protect Americans drastic action needs to be taken against the EPA from usurping powers meant for congress.
If the Republicans only speak out one at a time for this, or even worse pussy out as usual and not speak out at all, then it will be a coup for the Liberals.

Upton and Boehner make me nervous. Of course for Boehner, it will be a harder fall if he fails.
I will give them a chance, but have their phone numbers handy if I see them swaying away from what got them in the majority.
Remember, House members are only 2 years away from a loss.
Yeah, and maybe he’ll back off the lightbulb ban too.
You’re forgetting that Congress loves things the way they are. This way they don’t have to take responsibility for passing outrageous laws that they would have to take the electoral fall for at the hands of their constituents.
This way they get to point the finger at the judges and bureaucrats whenever they do something egregious and costly.
“Not our fault! We didn’t do it.”
I lived in California in the days when this “Jim Rockford” photo was taken. Back in the days of the blue California license plate with the gold lettering.
California was literally paradise back in those days.
