“Remember...the evidence is online:
http://www.fec.gov/disclosure.shtml

I’m not an accountant, so maybe someone else can figure out a way that it is legal, but it sure looks bad to me.”

Thanks for some honesty!! (/sarcasm)...

“Soros Sics One Of His Front Groups On Christine O’Donnell (CREW’s dubious FEC complaint ‘evidence’)

Today, an outfit called Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) filed complaints with the Delaware U.S. Attorney’s Office and the Federal Election Commission (FEC) against Delaware senatorial candidate Christine O’Donnell, claiming she used campaign funds for personal living expenses, made false statements and committed tax fraud by failing to claim monies she used for her personal expenses as income.

The ‘evidence’ consists of an affidavit from a disgruntled staffer, a number of FEC disbursement reports that could be taken in a number of ways, and a partisan article from the Delaware -based News Journal.

Much more interesting is who CREW actually is. Their chief donor is George Soros’ Open Society Institute, and they also get funds from ‘progressive’ outlets like Democracy Alliance, Service Employees International Union(SEIU), the Arca Foundation, and the Gill Foundation.

And they’re quite open about it. According to Naomi Seligman, the group’s deputy director, “We are progressive...We do work within a larger progressive infrastructure.”

Melanie Sloan, CREW’s Executive Director has an interesting background as well. Prior to starting CREW in 2003, she worked for Democrats John Conyers,( funny, no crew suit for Detroit councilwoman Mrs. COnyers!) Charles Schumer, and Joe Biden. And as an attorney, she represented Valerie Plame of all people inher suit against the Bush Administration.

While CREW claims to be non-partisan, what you mostly find if you look at their record is press releases about the few Democrats they’ve targeted and lawsuits and formal complaints against Republicans..which is exactly what you’d expect. In fact the only Democrats they’ve ever filed ethics complaints against are Louisiana Senator Mary Landreiu ( hardly a progressive icon) which they didn’t pursue and Queens Democrat Gregory Meeks after he was already under investigation for misusing funds from charities.

This strikes me as a tactic reminiscent of those famous ‘ethics complaints’ launched against Sarah Palin. They were all bogus and came to nothing, but it costs a candidate time and money to defend against them.

The funny thing is I bet these woman consider themselves feminists.

But hey...anything for the agenda, right CREW?

All campaign headquarters always mess up their addresses. This is adjacent townhouse situation ~ if there's ever a dispute about this I think my credentials are still sufficient that I'd be happy to witness for her.

The county property records can be referenced to clarify the circumstances. Since both properties were rented I'd bet they have the same owner.

Why end with almost $1million unspent? She could've bought a few dozen more "I'm not a witch" tv spots!

LOL.

There are a lot of Senators that should be in prison. Most of them I reckon.

It is a warning shot to discourage future Christine's from even trying to run for office.

??? The Democrats spend all night pleasantly DREAMING about future Christines running for office.

I suspect some of those funds continued to trickle in during the last days of the election cycle, perhaps not being firm enough to spend prior to the election.

On the other hand, she has almost no debt, and gets no credit for that. Sometimes you just can’t win.

If she’s broken campaign spending laws, I support her having to answer for it.

Seems like a bit of a witch hunt when there are many senators who have retired and are actually keeping tens of millions of unspent campaign contributions...

So they must be contributing to all the Tea Party and Palin endorsed candidates, right?

Sure. But if a million bucks "trickled" in during the last days, was the outrageous pummeling of the off-the-cuff elevator Cornyn comment that they might direct their paltry $40k from the NRSC to some other candidate where it might make a difference.

How much difference could that $7M have done in other close conservative races?

i’m with you i don’t get why so many here insist on backing this extremely flawed candidate/private person financially.

It is maddening to me to sit here and read conservatives start by saying , “ya, but what about” ...... or “but he does.........” or “they are doing the same.........” a lot sound like whiny liberals in the work place or children blaming others why o why people cannot she just be a horrible candidate and someone who has no idea on how to conduct ones self either professionally or privately?
Finally she had 4 treasurers in a span of a couple of months, is this the way a conservative handles things ?

C.R.E.W.

I was reading the article until I saw CREW filed the complaint and then I stopped.

Getting a complaint from CREW is more like a compliment from George Soros for a job well done.

I’m not convinced that Rove, the RNC, and other loud intemperate mouths that didn’t want O’Donnell to win, didn’t ultimately cost her the election.

It’s impossible to build support when your own party is savaging you because you weren’t who they wanted.

O’Donnell should have been able to come out of the primary on a roll. Instead she came out of it being rolled.

Frankly, I think the guy in Alaska got the same treatment.

And then you look at McCain, and how much the RNC and the Rove types supported him against his primary challenger. What a disgrace.

Just released from Christine O’Donnell:

December 29, 2010. Wilmington, DE: Christine O’Donnell’s campaign released the following statement in response to investigation rumors and states that Democrat insiders warned her that the “Establishment” would use phony investigations to end her political career;

Campaign Manager Matt Moran responded to the rumor of a criminal investigation, “We have heard absolutely nothing other than the same unsubstantiated allegations and rumors that have been circulating in the press for months. “If anything does materialize from this rumor, we will continue to fully cooperate as we have made every attempt to ensure we are in compliance with all rules and regulations. The politically motivated charge was all started by false accusations by Christine’s political opponents, and ratcheted up by former Biden staffer Melanie Sloan and CREW with their false claims. Let us be clear: there was no impermissible use of campaign funds. Period. This is just an ongoing effort by the George Soros-funded CREW and other liberal groups and individuals to intimidate and threaten Christine, even after the election.”

Christine O’Donnell continued, “Since anonymous sources are being taken seriously, please allow me to share some tips I’ve received and keep the tipsters’ identities anonymous. We’ve been warned by multiple high-ranking Democrat insiders that the Delaware Democrat and Republican political establishment is jointly planning to pull out all the stops to ensure I would never again upset the apple cart. Specifically they told me the plan was to crush me with investigations, lawsuits and false accusations so that my political reputation would become so toxic no one would ever get behind me. I was warned by numerous sources that the DE political establishment is going to use every resource available to them. So given that the King of the Delaware Political Establishment just so happens to be the Vice President of the most liberal Presidential administration in U.S. history, it is no surprise that misuse and abuse of the FBI would not be off the table. And further connecting the dots, do you think it is just a coincidence that Melanie Sloan was a senior Biden staffer just before she joined CREW and filed her complaint against me?!

“I have faith that our supporters and the general public will see right through these thug tactics. This is simply an Establishment trick to stop the anti-establishment Tea Party movement in its tracks. Heck, the Presidency is at stake in 2012.”

Maybe it couldn’t be spent fast enough. It was only a six week campaign.

Then again if she spent all of it, you’d be complaining she blew all that money on a failed bid.

BTW, if you are aspiring to be a comedian, don’t quit your day job.
