Not true. The SA existed until the end of the war and had its own armed detachments, known as Feldherrenhalle. They existed in regimental form through 1940 and comprised a Panzerkorps of the same name in 1945.

That's very interesting, I had always read that they were eradicated. Do you know of any books that talk about their Panzerkorps and/or other regiments?

That's a gap in my library, unfortuately. I found that information from a Kriegsgliderung (order of battle), but information on the feldherrnhalle can be found at axishistory.com among other places.
