Herman Cain ping list, let me know if you want on/off this list.
From what I’ve seen of Herman—he’ll get my vote!
I know he’s a conservative talk show host, but I’m not familiar with his positions on any of the issues. Willing to learn, but as of now he’s a total blank slate for me.
Same here. A DC outsider, non politician may look very attractive after two more years of BHO.

GREAT interview! I love it when he lays out the facts. Liberals cannot stand facts.
GO HERMAN GO!!!
I was in favor of Mike Huckabee, but when I learned more about him I decided that he's too RINO for me; so I'd be against his candidacy.
I don't know much about Michele Bachmann either, but from what I've seen I certainly like her!
It is urgent that we elect people who are intelligent, wise, and sober! We have very little margin for error. Our children are depending on us to keep them safe, and they are in grave danger.
The U.S.A.--along with all the Western World--is decadent!
Millions of Americans are oblivious to this.
Millions have no comprehension of what this means.
The Left is decadence. The Democrat Party is decadence. Hollywood, U.S. universities, the Mainstream Newsmedia are deathly ill with the decay, decline, and decadence that will destroy America if not reversed.
We must elect leaders who (1) can understand this and (2) can and will reverse it.
If we don't our children will pay a very heavy price.
When we look at our children, we must ask ourselves: "To what extent would I go to keep you safe?"
That's what we're up against, and millions of Americans cannot comprehend it.
A vote for Herman Cain is a defacto vote for Romney.
The establishment does this all the time. They run several conservatives to split the base so that their elitist RINO can win with a plurality.
(see: Nixon, Ford, Bush I, Dole, Bush II, McCain, Romney)
They are very good at getting their establishment candidate. The only way we will ever get a conservative nominee is if we can come together around ONE conservative candidate early.
But they will keep bringing in new conservatives to appeal to different factions of the base and divide our strength. It’s the only way they can win but they do it every time.
They are playing Chess while we play checkers.
Herman Cain is a great conservative. His first elected office will not be the Presidency of the United States.
Your vote is not a purity test of your conservatism. We are trying to ELECT a real person.
So are you saying that Herman Cain is or is not the man we need (see my post #8)? I don’t know much about him.
You are absolutely right that we need someone who is uncompromising in opposing and defeating the decadence.
Hello? The establishment did not “pick” Herman Cain. He has been talking to tea parties across the US for the past 2 years and the people have encouraged him to run — I know I am one of them!
He has done as much for conservatism in the decade as Palin, just without the fanfare. He has been fighting the good fight as far back as when Clinton days.
You underestimate him.
Thanks for the info.
t-dude is doing the “concern troll” thing. The same thing they do to Palin to plant seeds of doubt.
I suggest researching Herman, and deciding for yourself, because folks here have all sorts of motivations for steering folks away from one candidate or another.
Cain is a great Conservative but not ready for Presidency. He needs some major executive experience, not just being paid for opinions. I would vote in a heart beat for him for a lower office to start with- to prove his words match his actions.
No, I am pointing out reality.
Were you paying attention in 2008?
I am tired of the RINO parade. If we are a conservative party lets nominate a conservative. To do that we will need to all come together.
Can Herman Cain unite the entire conservative bass? He’s never been elected dog catcher and nobody’s ever even heard of him.
He’s a great conservative...so am I. We both have the same chance of being elected President.
I’m just asking people to think a little about the value of their vote.
I know some prefer to vote their conscience and will go to their grave blaming everyone else for not being as “smart” or as “pure” as they are...but there are some other things to consider than ideology.
Sadly, charisma and name recognition are important when over half the populace pays no attention and couldn’t even name who the vice president is.
I’m not saying it’s fair. Just looking at this realistically and trying to figure out how come the establishment squish always ends up as our nominee.
Aren’t you tired of holding your nose while voting?
Herman Cain’s Background:
From his web site -
Raised in Georgia, Cain adopted the lessons of his parents dedication to hard work and the importance of faith and carried them with him to the pinnacle of the corporate world. Cain earned a degree in mathematics from Morehouse College in 1967 and later earned a masters degree in computer science from Purdue University, while working as a mathematician for the Department of the Navy. He then worked as a business analyst for The Coca-Cola Company. In 1968, he married his wife, Gloria and they have two grown children.
In 1977, Herman Cain joined The Pillsbury Company and within three years, at the age of 34, rose to the position of Vice President of Corporate Systems and Services. Cain, reflecting his fathers drive to seek greater challenges, then set his sights on a corporate presidency.
With this goal ahead of him and his mothers faith to support him, Cain resigned his senior position and started on another career path the restaurant industry. He started from the ground up by making hamburgers at Pillsburys Burger King division. Nine months later, he was managing 400 Burger King units in the Philadelphia region, the countrys poorest performer. Within three years, his region had earned the reputation for excellence and was the companys best.
In 1986, Pillsbury appointed Cain to the presidency of the then financially troubled Godfathers Pizza, Inc. chain headquartered in Omaha, Nebraska. In 14 short months, under Cains leadership, the chain regained profitability. In 1988, he led his executive team in a buyout of the company from Pillsbury.
Cain was elected to the Board of Directors of the National Restaurant Association in 1988. In 1994 to 1995, he served as Chairman of the Board of Directors. While leading this association, he developed the organization into a pro-business voice via national debates and speeches concerning health care reform, employment policies, and taxation. Following this experience, he was appointed to serve on the Economic Growth and Tax Reform Commission in addition to serving as Chairman and Member of the Board of Directors for the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City. He then became a senior advisor to the 1996 Dole/Kemp campaign for the Presidency.
Herman Cain continued the responsibilities of President and Chairman of Godfathers Pizza, Incorporated, while beginning a second career delivering national keynote speeches. Using his messages as the foundation, he created his own leadership consulting company, The THE New Voice, Inc. THE New Voice packages his speaking and develops his products, including books, DVDs, CDs of gospel music, and promotes his keynote speeches. He has authored four books to date on topics ranging from leadership to self-empowerment including Leadership is Common Sense and CEO of Self.
In 1996, Cain became CEO and President of the National Restaurant Association. He had been a member of the NRA Board since 1988, and had served as its elected volunteer chairman in 1994/1995. Cain thus became the only volunteer chairman to become the full-time CEO and President of the Association while still a member of the Board. Cain headed the NRA in this position for two and a half years.
In 1999, Cain sought to leverage his restaurant experience with the technology market and he became CEO and President of RetailDNA. Its mission is to provide innovative marketing solutions to the retail sector.
Today, Herman is a radio talk show host on The Herman Cain Show out of Atlantas WSB 750am and is a FOX News Business Commentator. Cain remains President and CEO of THE New Voice, Inc. and serves on the Boards of Directors for AGCO Corporation, Hallmark Cards Incorporated and Whirlpool Corporation. In 2004, he ran as a candidate for the United States Senate from Georgia.

Life’s Work
Herman Cain has enjoyed a stellar career in the business world. He became the youngest vice president in the history of The Pillsbury Company in 1977 after just three years with the company. He left this position in 1982 to learn the restaurant business at Pillsbury’s Burger King subsidiary. In 1986, his success with Burger King prompted Pillsbury to select Cain to assume the presidency of another of its struggling companies, Godfather’s Pizza. Finally, he became the first black president of the National Restaurant Association, the food service industry’s leading trade organization.
When Cain started working at a Minneapolis Burger King in 1982, he cleaned toilets and flipped hamburgers. After completing the management training program in only nine months, Cain was named vice president and general manager for the Philadelphia region of the Burger King Corporation. Attaining this position was particularly special for Cain, considering that he and several friends were refused service in a restaurant in 1952 when they attempted to buy a hamburger.
Although there have been many reasons for Cain’s business success, he credits maintaining a sharp focus as a key component. The 1997 website for the Business Leadership Summit held at San Joaquin Delta College, Leadership Summit, Inc. stated, “Faith, focus, and follow-through are the ingredients of the successful recipe of Herman Cain.” Eric K. Washington in American Visions wrote, “Cain credits a single overriding principle—’focus, focus, focus’—for his success.” Cain told Wallace Terry in Parade Magazine, “My philosophy has always been to exceed the expectations of the job.” Responding to a question by Policy Review about establishing a successful business in the competitive market Cain remarked, “Because I am a black American, I’ve had to perform better than my white counterparts. This is a personal standard that I’ve set for myself: I’ve got to perform a little better in order to get the same opportunity. I can’t just be as good; I’ve got to be better. It should not be this way, but it is.” After receiving the International Food Manufacturers Association’s Operator of the Year/Gold-Plate Award in 1991, Cain was quoted as saying in Restaurant Business, “Success is a journey, not a destination.”
Cain’s relentless focus and continued striving for excellence turned Godfather’s Pizza around when its survival was questionable. And he did it in less than eighteen months. In 1988, Cain purchased Godfather’s Pizza from The Pillsbury Company and became president and chief executive officer. In 1995, Godfather’s Pizza, Inc. was the fifth-largest pizza chain in the nation.
Despite his successes, Cain does not forget his humble beginnings. His parents, Luther Cain, Jr. and Lenora Davis Cain provided examples of hard work that he would remember the rest of his life. His father at one time worked three jobs: cutting hair in his off hours, working part-time at Coca-Cola as a chauffeur, and working an evening shift as a janitor in a bakery. His mother worked as a domestic. This work ethic would inspire Cain, not only to work hard, but to “rise up singing,” as DuBose Hayward’s lyrics stated in “Summertime” from Porgy and Bess. Singing would come later in his life. Cain told Wallace Terry in Parade Magazine, “My father never looked for a government program, a government handout. I never heard my father complain about somebody owing him anything. All I ever saw was how hard my father worked to get what he wanted out of life. My mother was my spiritual light—Mom talked to me about God. She taught me that success is not a function of what you start with materially but what you start with spiritually. Those were my beginnings. They have been with me ever since.” Cain carried these values through Morehouse College in Atlanta, into his work as a mathematician for the Navy, and later to Purdue University, where he earned a master’s degree in computer science.
In 1994, after Cain was elected president of the National Restaurant Association, he proposed several reforms affecting the restaurant business, such as allowing sixteen-year-olds to work past seven o’clock on Friday nights. He also envisioned restaurants of the future that would use architecture, lighting, service, and decor to expose patrons to different geographical regions or eras.
In 1994, Cain became active in politics. He campaigned around the country against President Clinton’s health plan, contending that small businesses would be hurt by it. Cain served as a member of the Economic Growth and Tax Reform Commission established by Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich, and Senate Majority Leader Bob Dole. According to an Associated Press report in The New York Times, Cain “promised that his industry would give welfare recipients jobs, training and a chance to gain economic success.” Because of his far- reaching views, Cain has served on numerous boards, including the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City, Creighton University of Omaha, Nabisco, Inc., SuperValu, Inc., UtiliCorp United, Inc., and Whirlpool Corporation. He continues to serve on the Joe Edmonson Youth Outreach Program for troubled teens in Omaha. In 1996, Cain recorded his first compact disc, Sunday Morning, a collection of gospel hymns which will in part benefit the outreach program.
Cain has not only received five honorary doctorate degrees, but he has been recognized by the Horatio Alger Society, an organization in Pennsylvania that honors those who rise from rags to riches by hard work, honesty, and religious principles. Cain has received awards for his humanitarian efforts; businessman of the year awards; special recognition awards; and excellence in leadership awards.
Cain has achieved such remarkable success because he genuinely enjoys life and its many challenges. As he told Wallace Terry in Parade, “Success is not the key to happiness. Happiness is the key to success. If you love what you are doing, you will be successful. And give God the glory.”
Awards
Honorary Doctorate, Morehouse College, 1988; Top 25 Black Executives, Black Enterprise, 1988; Honorary Doctorate, Tougaloo College, 1989; Honorary Doctorate, University of Nebraska, 1990; Entrepreneur of the Year, 1990; Operator of the Year/Gold Plate Award, International Foodservice Manufacturers Association, 1991; Honorary Doctorates, Johnson and Wales University and New York City Technical College; recipient of humanitarian awards, businessman of the year awards, special recognition awards, and excellence in leadership awards.

In addition to the above, Herman Cain has been speaking at tea parties for the past 2 years, and his PAC supported dozens of conservative candidates across the country. All but two won the seats they were running for.
No they did not “pick’ him. But they made sure he heard the whispers of “You can do it!” and ‘Go for it!”
I am not saying he is on their side AT ALL. I know he is big with the Tea Party. I know he is a sold conservative. I am sure I agree with him on every issue, I certainly haven’t heard a thing from him that isn’t right on.
I am not underestimating his conservatism.
Of course he has a tiny group of supporters (like justsaynomore)who are thrilled to see him run. But it is not realistic to think that the American populace will vote for a talk show host who has never held elected office on any level after the disaster of the unqualified Obama.
As conservatives, we see our principles as our most valued beliefs. Our votes only go to those who share and express them. So you tell me why we always end up having to vote for the Bob Doles and John McCains.
I am sick of it.
Try to think about winning sometime. Herman Cain can not win the Presidency. He cannot even win the nomination...MOST republicans have never heard of him. Not everyone is a political junkie spending time on conservative forums...most people don’t. But they vote.
Maybe YOU need to look at 2008. I would much rather have a field of conservatives like Palin and Cain, than the crap field we had in 2008 of Huckabee, McCain and Romney. The reason we had to vote for a RINO is that was all there was.
We should all be wanting a GROUP of conservatives to pick from. But my guess is that some really are afraid their candidate won’t cut it with some competition.
Just sayin’
You have proof of this? I'd sure love to hear it. Maybe they are whispering those things in Palin's ear. She is closer to the GOP than Herman is.
Everything you say is conjecture.
