"The more people try to take her out, she only becomes emboldened, strengthened, it makes her such a martyr," said Mrs Wallace, who has recently written a thriller called Eighteen Acres, drawn in part from her experiences on the bid for the White House of John McCain and Mrs Palin, his running mate.
"She has very obvious deficiencies that will reveal themselves as the nominating contest gets closer," she told The Daily Telegraph, adding: "Let her shoot her moose or whatever the heck she does on her [television] show, it will all work out."
...... "What's troubling is she has missed an opportunity to go beyond the platitudes and deepen her knowledge," said Mrs Wallace, who was formerly communications director in the George W Bush administration. "It's incredibly cynical to think you can win an election without having a thoughtful intellectual discussion with the country, thinking you can just scare people into voting for you."
Mrs Wallace's remarks follow similar reservations voiced by senior Republicans and figureheads of the Right including Barbara Bush, former First Lady, and Karl Rove, the leading strategist in the George W Bush administration.

Well sure. She's probably looking at 0 and seeing no flaws.
Palin, flawed as she is, still looks a hell of a lot better to me than that flop-eared S.O.B. infesting the WH now.
No it is the RINO open-borders Bush clan including that POS Rove.
Can’t get elected without having an intellectual converstation with America? Hello? Obama?
But I expect this from “former” Bush people. His “former” people show his true colors on a daily basis.
not like Obama or Biden or Bubba Clinton have any flaws or anything...
Alexander Hamilton deserved every bit of what he got, and then some.
Wallace has CLAWS! Catty Elite....what could be worse?
They called Reagan a dunderhead. I wonder if they’ll pull that one out of the dusty hat.
..Ive even heard Rush going on about this bitch because she was kissing his butt... ~ Maelstorm
> Since Ive been a 3-hours daily Rush listener since 1990, I had never heard any such thing.
Rush has pointed out that Wallace is someone who has ‘clarified’ his CPAC bit of “I hope he fails” with regards to Obama with he hoped his agenda failed, and Rush has mentioned her book. BUT other than that he doesn’t think that highly of her:
“Nicolle Wallace: ‘Heaven Forbid’ Palin Becomes President”; plus your piece and earlier references to her being the mole and responsible for the wardrobe story - a total fabrication because it was Nicolle that first mentioned to Sarah about getting new clothes and a hairstylist. On which Sarah declined. And Rush also pointed out that Wallace set up “the set up” interview with Couric.
You seem to be the one who accepts the framing of “intellectual=bad.” I reject that. Any political/personal philosophy that requires me to condemn intellect is one that I reject. Maybe you wish to say “I hate intellectuals, but intellect is OK,” — if so, say so.
Condemnation of “intellect” is different from condemnation of the self-labeled intellectual.
If you have to call yourself an intellectual, you obviously aren’t one.
Nicolle Wallace? Is she still alive?????
Sorry if that wasn't clear enough. I sometimes assume that everyone has read Sowell, etc.
Smart/elite people are great. I stated that in my original post - we are PRO-ACHIEVEMENT.
Being anti-elitist and anti-intellectualism simply means being against the "right and duty" of the self-appointed "betters" to make our decisions for us.
That proves you are a heretic and should be banned immediately from FR.
If that were not a lie, then you would have been banned over your more than five years of attacking Palin here, including being against her run for Governor back in 2005 saying things like “she looks like just another tool of the socialists in this state to divide and conquer” and “Saint Sarah is the democrats great hope to divide the republican party”.
Palin won that election and became the most popular Governor in Alaskan history, and the most popular Governor in America, and the favorite of conservatives as we take on the Romney/Rove machinery.
The Bush men have consistently surrounded themselves with liberal women, both in their personal lives and in terms of political advisors. His mother is an obnoxious blue-haired patrician cow and his wife a pseudo-feminist, so it is hardly surprising that his female advisors and staffers are consistently of the RINO mold. The Bush family are the poster children for everything that is wrong with the GOP.
Isn’t Sowell an intellectual?
Rush is a genius.
OK... I assume that everyone has read Montaigne’s “essays.”
Q:Last question: a lot of people accuse conservatives of being anti-intellectual. Would you say, given the track record of intellectuals over the last century, that maybe there is a reason to be concerned about intellectuals?
Sowell: Well, like so many things, this depends upon cleverness with words. Intellectuals, as I define them, are people whose end product or ideas may or may not exhibit intellectual standards. As the book points out, their cleverness can be used to evade those standards. So, when you're against intellectuals as an occupational class, that's one thing. But, it has nothing to do with being against intellectual standards or intellectual achievements. That confusion is one of the things that many intellectuals play on for all its worth.
