The Senate has just voted to end debate on a bill that would lift the ban on gays serving openly in the military, essentially clearing the measure for passage and signature by the president.
Lawmakers voted 63 to 33 to end debate on the current policy, put in place by former president Bill Clinton, informally known as "don't ask don't tell."
The Senate could vote on final passage of the measure as early as today but it will most likely happen on Sunday or Monday.
"We are on the verge of ending 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell' for good," Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., said after the vote "This is one of those moments in our history when we stepped up and squared our policies with the values this nation was founded upon."

I think it’s a joke to keep accomodating every group, but that’s where we are. DADT was really weak anyway. A milquetoast policy passed by an immoral Pres. The real question is: Why are we talking about it? We need to get back to merit only. I don’t care ultimately if someone is gay. Can they do the REAL job??? If not, go be gay as a civilian.

I wouldn't doubt it for a min. We don't have enough problems retaining people after 5-6 tours in Iraq/Afghan, we need this to spark the exodus into overdrive.

Not knowing if someone's covertly studying you in the shower as a potential sexual partner is going to cause a LOT of problems. But like I said in another post upstream, they Soldiers/Sailor/Marines and Airmen will have gone through several bouts of brainwashing, propagandistic diversity training so eventually they'll be the ones to bend under the mental lash. And all under our tax dime.

I believeyou are right.I just do not see a bunch of hardcore marines dealing with this very well in battle.They may want to be careful of what they ask for because the end result may not be what they bargained for.

we’re not talking about about hundreds of thousands of homosexuals joining but we are looking at their activists who will do things to get lawsuits or get some kicked out for opposing them.
The voices of our Marines and vets etc have been ignored because of special interests.

Oh, but you are wrong after DADT is stopped, the military will not be able to ban any of those things. To do so would be to unfairly discriminate.

Agree 100% with you on this. Standards of conduct should not change regardless of the status of DADT.

God has called us to make righteous Judgments....you've renigged on the responsibility before Him to agree that Homosexuality is sin....in doing so you are opposing Him. Individuals cannot sit on the fence when it comes to making Judgment calls. By not making a Judgment call you are then siding with the Homosexual community.
