Omaha Steaks Drops Glenn Beck
Omaha Steaks ads recently started running on Glenn Becks program on Fox News.
As with other advertisers, participants in the StopBeck effort reached out to Omaha Steaks. We kindly requested that they follow the responsible action of hundreds of other former advertisers and refrain from advertising on Glenn Becks show.
Well, your efforts paid off.
This morning, Omaha Steaks announced that they were removing their ads from Glenn Becks program (emphasis added):
Omaha Steaks buys large units of national television advertising during the holiday season. This year, we bought a package of advertising through the Fox Network. We did not specifically request to be included on the Glenn Beck program. As part of our contract, the Omaha Steaks ads run in a variety of time slots throughout the day.
We took your comments regarding the Glenn Beck Program to heart. After further review and careful consideration, we have decided to pull all advertising from Glenn Beck programming effective December 20th, 2010. Unfortunately, due to advertising cancellation policies, we were bound to continue possible ad placements through Sunday, December 19th.
At Omaha, we greatly value the loyalty and support of our customers, fans and followers and thank you for bringing your concerns to our attention.
Great work all! See, your tweets and messages really do matter.
Here we see another advertiser stepping up and taking the responsible action. Dont dismiss these actions, they are important steps as we continue to gear up for our broader DropFox accountability effort.
Onward we go
Looks like the calls and e-mails are having an effect on them as they are trying to back peddle a little now.
Here is the e-mail I got this morning:
“The staff writers of our blog responded incorrectly and I want toapologize for any confusion this may have caused. The facts are: we didnot “pull” our ads from any show. Our holiday TV advertising contractends on December 19th. Our contract never specified when our ads wouldair, only that they would air. Mr. Beck’s show is enjoyed by many, and weat Omaha Steaks hope our steaks are too. Our marketing is designed tospeak to Americans who love steaks and great food, getting together withfamily and friends and giving gifts of great taste - no matter what TVshows they watch or what newspapers they read. Bruce Simon Omaha Steaks has no affiliation with Mr. Beck, nor do we ever endorse anypolitical affiliations, views or beliefs. At Omaha Steaks, we greatly value the loyalty and support of ourcustomers, fans and followers and thank you for bringing your concerns toour attention”
I just got the same email back from their CEO, Bruce Simon. So basically, Ned the Blogger sent out an incorrect statement regarding Beck and Omaha’s ad buy. So taking Mr. Simon’s statement at face value, am I to believe that Ned the Blogger is just freelancing in the IT department and arbitrarily making decisions on which ad buys to pull without any input from the Advertising Dept and Omaha’s higher-ups?
But assuming this is the case, how did Omaha’s Customer Care Dept end up responding with the same anti-Beck message? I’ve seen many corporate organizational charts, but rarely have I seen the corporate customer care department reporting directly to Ned the Blogger. This effort was coordinated.
Perhaps Omaha should focus less on the PC crowd and more on selling steaks. Pissing off your demographic is not a smart business decision. A simple ‘mea culpa’ would have carried a lot more weight.
Yes, I just saw that news. Looks like the leftist moonbats yet again had a deceitfully premised ‘victory’ carried out in the dead of night snatched from them by the reality of the light of day...
I got the same email from the company president.
Yep, I got the same e-mail response from the CEO.
They are certainly trying to do damage control. Reputation is a valuable commodity when you sell an expensive product or service.
We have a year of on-going battles ahead of us.
I didn’t think liberals are meat eaters.
Ah. But we buy from them as gifts to family elsewhere.
I got both emails also. The FU who cares email from the Customer Service Manager and then the retraction one from the Omaha president. Unless I learn directly that the liberal b..ch has been summarily fired, I am done with them. I have shipped gift boxes dozens of times and buy from them at least quarterly myself.
Omaha culture?
The locals in Omaha are some of the most civil I have know. Traveled there frequently for a number of years. There is however a “racial” component that cannot be ignored. Some of the “radicals” have felt empowered since Obozo was Coronated.
I am still puzzled about the degree of that element. I know some very nice black people who simply cannot see what he is. It is past explanation.
As far as politics of Omaha Steaks, I have no information except what surface here. It appears the owners of the company have been long term Dem contributors. It would be interesting to see what effect this has on them.
I called and got a refund on the order we got 2 weeks ago.
Way to go! Mine came as a gift...I would not order diamonds from this outfit if they were priced at $1/pound!
I shot a doe night before last.....had daughter and BF over for dinner last night. Had nice deer venison....Was GREAT!!
