Omaha Steaks Drops Glenn Beck

Omaha Steaks’ ads recently started running on Glenn Beck’s program on Fox News.

As with other advertisers, participants in the StopBeck effort reached out to Omaha Steaks. We kindly requested that they follow the responsible action of hundreds of other former advertisers and refrain from advertising on Glenn Beck’s show.

Well, your efforts paid off.

This morning, Omaha Steaks announced that they were removing their ads from Glenn Beck’s program (emphasis added):

Omaha Steaks buys large units of national television advertising during the holiday season. This year, we bought a package of advertising through the Fox Network. We did not specifically request to be included on the Glenn Beck program. As part of our contract, the Omaha Steaks ads run in a variety of time slots throughout the day.

We took your comments regarding the Glenn Beck Program to heart. After further review and careful consideration, we have decided to pull all advertising from Glenn Beck programming effective December 20th, 2010. Unfortunately, due to advertising cancellation policies, we were bound to continue possible ad placements through Sunday, December 19th.

At Omaha, we greatly value the loyalty and support of our customers, fans and followers and thank you for bringing your concerns to our attention.

Great work all! See, your tweets and messages really do matter.

Here we see another advertiser stepping up and taking the responsible action. Don’t dismiss these actions, they are important steps as we continue to gear up for our broader DropFox accountability effort.

Onward we go…

Omaha Steaks are not very good. Allen Bros. is much better.

"They figured out all of Beck’s viewers like their steak freeze dried and packaged in backpacks for quick relocation."

LOL. That's good.

Is it a coincidence that there's an article on FR now about Mountain House (Dehydrated foods) is unable to meet the high demand for their products.

Who eats a previously frozen steak, wrapped in a vacuum seal?
That’s gotta be like dumpster diving, in the steak family.

Aren’t UPS drivers members of the Teamsters Union? Actually my local driver is a nice guy but I do think they are Teamsters.

Yeah ... in years past I ordered Omaha steaks for some of my client base. Nebraska is a great state with many fine people.
Then, I became better acquainted with Warren Buffet and his politics ... and my impression of anything related to Omaha, not so much Nebraska, began to change. Bottom line I haven't ordered anything in several years from Omaha Steaks ... they've long since stopped calling me and sending e-mails soliciting my business. Just want you Freepers out there in cyberspace to know Blu boycotted Omaha Steaks before it was cool.

We ordered some steaks from them and got them a week ago. Ate ‘em. The confirmation comes with 100% guarantee if you are unsatisfied for ANY reason, they will refund your purchase.

I just called and got a full refund.

This makes little sense from a business standpoint because I am willing to wager that Beck fans are more likely to be steak eaters than the radical left Beck boycotters who feast on granola and tofu.

Not only that, if they could (and no doubt someday they will try) the left would ban Omaha's products in a heartbeat.

... is there an alternative?

Yes, there is. Buy Harris Ranch steaks. I've never eaten an Omaha steak, but I can't imagine that they would taste better than Harris Ranch steaks.

Allen Bros is too expensive compared to all others.

I have had wonderful success with:

Heartlandsteaks.com

Know nothing about their politics.

Media Matters Hires Angelo Carusone, Leader Of 'Stop Beck' Movement, To Ramp Up Campaign Against Fox News

"..WASHINGTON -- The battle between progressives and Fox News just got hotter. Liberal watchdog Media Matters has hired one of Glenn Beck's key nemeses, a man who has been working behind the scenes (and more publicly on Twitter) for the past year to convince advertisers to drop the right-wing icon..."

Thanks for the email address for them. They got an email from me. I’ve ordered from them, and my mother sends me their steaks several times a year. They lost another customer.

Brilliant plan, Omaha Steaks. Impress the vegans and piss off the meat eaters. Real smart.

I stopped shopping--in fact, my whole family and many of my friends stopped shopping--at the local Radio Shack for the same reason. The store closed about six months later. I'm not claiming that losing our business pushed the store over the edge, but it sure as hell didn't help keep it solvent.
