Sarah Palin and the Haters of American Normal (Elite "Left" & "Right" are the problem)
American Thinker ^ | Monday December 13, 2010 | By Stuart Schwartz

Posted on 12/13/2010 7:10:39 AM PST by Bigtigermike

We are just south of Christmas, and the nation's insiders -- self-proclaimed blue-bloods by birth and/or worldview -- have declared open season on Sarah Palin.  Crazed left and sclerotic right have united in common purpose -- "hellbent," as Politico put it -- to rid this nation of the possibility of a presidency that would most assuredly end in "apocalyptic disaster" after which "the survivors will envy the dead" (or so says that fading leftist icon, The New Republic).  Stop her now -- or we may end up with a normal American at the helm.

Sarah Palin is just too dumb to understand how lousy it is to be in this materialist and fascist society, this hateful America, the Atlantic tells us.  Scorn laces the left as New York Times opinion writers let us know that behind the deceptive Palin smile "lies anger" and an unwillingness to accept the decline that those who know better have visited upon us out of wisdom and necessity.  Shut up and bowl (or hunt or fish or tailgate, they say, and leave the decisions to us.

Meanwhile on the right, MSNBC's house conservative, Joe Scarborough, says it's time for Republican insiders to "man up and confront Sarah Palin."  She's poison for responsible (read: insider) government.  Bush consigliere and FOXNews analyst Karl Rove is leading the charge to stop this outsider, whom he regards as "unsuitable" for the presidency, which is a job best left to those who brought us porous borders, intrusive regulation, and exploding government spending.  (In some respects, the Obama reign is simply the Bush presidency on steroids.)  From left and right, insiders all, the anger is palpable at what James Lewis of American Thinker terms "American exceptionalism in the flesh -- and downright attractive flesh at that.

This article is part of the problem. It paints a black/white world of people who either adore SP, or hate her.

I don't think Sarah should run, but if she does, I doubt we'll be facing the apocalypse because of it.

I like Sarah. I love her ideas. I just think she does more for conservatism in her current role than she would as Prez.

There is one more reason liberal women feel such hatred for her. Palin is willingly raising an imperfect, retarded child, and she is clearly happy doing so.

Sarah Palin is a daily, stellar reminder that abortion is NOT necessary in order for a woman to have a happy fulfilling life and a sucessful career.

This kind of statement, that we see usually from the "Anybody but Sarah" crowd here on FreeRepublic, always mystifies me.

When you are POTUS, you have the "bully pulpit". Everyone has to listen to you.

Everyone!

You get to set the agenda.

You get to prevent the other side's agenda via your Vetos.

Like I said it mystifies me.

It seems to be a soft-peddaling way to denigrate her by saying either she is not ready, or incapable of performing the job.

I don't agree with this article. It equates people who disagree with Sarah Palin with the leftists who hate her and are trying to destroy her. I agree with most of what Sarah Palin says but she is far from perfect and not knowledgeable on many issues.

She has been unfairly treated by the MSM and she and her family have been subject to one vicious attack after another. But everyone who disagrees with her is not a “hater”.

Really?

Please elaborate or provide proof of how she is not "knowleadable on many issues". Otherwise, all you are doing is parroting the left-wing.

It also makes you out to be a "Concern" troll.

It is a good article.

What I see as its most important topic though is not Sarah Palin, so much as the contrast between ‘Normal Americans’ and ‘Educated Americans’.

In the article it becomes clear that the ‘education’ of the self identified elite is mere indoctrination and hubris.

Most of us already knew that, but it bears repeating.

Not one single potential candidate has called for a massive ramp up new Energy policy has she has....how can she be effective for conservatives if say President Pawlenty goes in another direction? The other candidates have been silent on the Federal Reserve actions other than Palin, how can that help our criticism of that if Palin is sitting home knitting while President Mitt Romney an establishment guy would do nothing or say nothing!

You must be either a concern troll or one who fail to read articles

He is talking about the Elites on both sides in the Media and D.C. attacking her! Not the average American voter who has questions about her abilities *sheesh*

Seems I remember when the Networks wouldn't cover GW's speeches at all. On the other hand I don't think a day goes by that Obama doesn't show up on my screen.

Strange huh?

You have the Bully Pulpit if they give it to you, else you had just as well be speaking to the ladies auxiliary library committee.

You want dumb?

Gore, Kennedys (all of ‘em), Cronkite, Rather...and the list goes on and on.

I could go on for pages just about Gore (who along with the dimbulb Kerry, couldn’t even muster grades equal to W).

I don’t take other’s comments about Palin quietly any more. They expose their idiocy and I pounce.

I agree with most of what Sarah Palin says but she is far from perfect and not knowledgeable on many issues.

Just for clarification, what issues do you disagree with her on, and on what issues are you more knowledgeable than her?

And would you prefer a knowledgeable president to a wise president? Which is a better quality for leadership, knowledge or wisdom?

You think Sarah's been sitting at home knitting? Have you been out of the country or something?
