Well, we can expect at least one part of the economy to boom in the next two years: Some observers believe President Obama will raise -- and spend -- over $1 billion in his likely re-election campaign.
Obama raised a record $745 million in his 2008 run, the Washington Post reports, dwarfing Sen. John McCain's $368 million. Two-thirds of Obama's funds were raised online, and with the increased influence of the Internet in politics, that amount could easily be topped next time around, says Ben Ginsberg, a former adviser to 2008 GOP candidate Mitt Romney.
Plus, past elections show a statistical progression indicating that the $1 billion mark isn't far-fetched. In 2004, George W. Bush raised $367 million to Sen. John Kerry's $328 million.
The Post notes that a key difference in the '04 and '08 campaigns was that Obama opted out of public financing for the general election, which allowed him to maximize his appeal to previously untapped groups and individuals energized by his candidacy. In the final months of the campaign, his fundraising advantage allowed him to overwhelm McCain on television in every swing state. Given that precedent, neither major party candidate is expected to participate in the public financing system in 2012.
Ain’t gonna happen.
and all that money will come from da peoples of hoop and chaines
Shouldn’t he be “sharing” it with the poor?
And he’s very wrong. Reading around the blogs you don’t don’t have to go far before seeing that Obama’s base is pissed off. They’ve turned on him. He won’t raise that much money..no way.
The untapped sources in 2008? Foreign money? He’ll do the same in 2012.
Stimulus, TARP?
$1 billion dollars, . . . and that is just from Soros!!!
i’m sure the saudis will kick in.......since we can’t drill here they’ll make lots of money
So if he is that worried about redistribution, why not give the 1 billion to the poor? Or is it only OUR money he wants to give away?
Seems to me we need to have ALL donations IDENTIFIED and LIMITED to $2300, which is the Individual Max...Unions and Corporations should have a $2300 limit, too.
If the Republicans in Congress don’t do something about accountability for online donations, they deserve what they get in 2012.
ZERO has two chances.
1. Slim
2. NONE
It wouldn’t surprise me one bit.
I aways wonder about the legality of “Matching donations” through groups like moveon and organizing for america.
I got emails from OFA promising that an unnamed philanthropist would match my donation to democrats running in the last election.
I wonder if the press will AGAIN ignore the Obama Campaign’s practice of disabling its own security measures in order to make multiple credit card donations untraceable.
We already know the Fake FEC won’t say anything.

BO will raise most of his money from illegal foreign contributions from muslim Terrorists like he did in 2008.
Not counting the $300-400 Billion in $timulus dollars still waiting to be spent to buy some key Electoral votes.

Does anybody else remember the Obama campaign intentionally disabling a software feature on their campaign site that would have rejected foreign funds?
Well I do.

Yep. They almost completely disabled the AVS - Address Verification Service on credit card transactions. Money could come from anywhere and one donor could make multiple donations using different addresses.

Rush brought that up on his show yesterday too.

hey Baghdad Bob-WHY didnt you take the opportunity to bring up the name NORMAN AUCHI? The Iraqi who is rumored to have contributed several MILLION to the DNC in 2008 thru debit card scams. Or the woman in Missouri who supposedly contirbuted 178k to Zerofrobrains. When asked by the Washington Compost about this, the woman said she never gave it. Did ANY of these stories get followed up or acted upon? OF COURSE NOT.

Here is another blog post from yesterday. It concerns the Foreign Fund Raising being done by the AFL-CIO. I think ALL donations should be documented. Then they should be investigated and if any FRAUD is found they should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. http://21stcenturyteaparty.wordpress.com/2010/10/...

Attn MSM: Heres Evidence of Foreign Campaign Donations
Posted by Jeff Dunetz Oct 12th 2010

[snip]
Beginning in mid-July 2008, blogger Pamela Geller went through publicly accessible FEC records and discovered foreign donors supporting the Obama effort. http://atlasshrugs2000.typepad.com/atlas_shrugs/2008/07/obama-who-is-je.html
Gellers investigations unveiled a series of donations to Obama made by Monir Edwan and Hosam Edwan (Palestinians born and raised in Gaza) totaling $29,521.54. http://atlasshrugs2000.typepad.com/atlas_shrugs/2008/07/obamas-gazan-co.html
A third brother, Yousef, reportedly gave the campaign about $4,000. After that particular donation was discovered by Geller, the WSJ followed up with the Obama campaign who claimed the donations were returned. Not true, said the Palestinians. From reporter Aaron Klei:
No, we did not receive any money back from the Obama campaign at any time, said Monir Edwan. http://www.wnd.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=71597
Geller wrote a series of articles which were barely mentioned in the MSM except in pieces trashing her. Her research not only showed foreign contributors, but people who had contributed well over the $2,500 dollar limit, and contributors from the progressive media.
The investigation showed that Gaza wasnt the Presidents only source foreign dollars, his campaign accepted contributions came from over 50 nations. They tried to scam the system by having the foreign contributors make multiple small donations, seemingly in their own names, over a period of a few days, while the individual donations were under maximum allowed, but the aggregate were in excess of the maximums. Other donations came in from donors with fake names such as Hbkjb, jkbkj, and Doodad.
Thousands of Obamas foreign donations ended in cents. This was evidence of foreign contributors sending in donations in foreign currencies that were exchanged into dollars resulting in odd amounts. Donations from Americans living overseas would more likely be in dollars so they wouldnt have those odd amounts.
The Obama campaign received a substantial amount of money from countries that have an interest in seeing a weak American President: $366,708.22 from China, $25,259.00 from the United Arab Emirates, $7,062.60 from Russia, and $6,716.28 from Saudi Arabia. Obama also took in $6,350.00 from Indonesia, $5,000.00 from Kenya, and $1,750.00 from Egypt.
The records also indicate that Obama also took donations from Tamil Tiger leaders. The Tamil Tigers are, according to the FBI, the most successful terrorist group in the world. While the Hillary Clinton returned contributions from the Tamil Tigers, Obama kept them. http://atlasshrugs2000.typepad.com/atlas_shrugs/2008/10/obama-accepts-d.html
Two years after that election the mainstream media has yet to report on stories about President Obamas foreign donations all verified by FEC documentation. Maybe its time for them to challenge the unsubstantiated administration rumors with the real evidence of foreign donations being used to influence an election, the election in 2008.
