TLC and why Palin will never be president -- part 2
Last week I wrote a piece pegged to tonight's TLC pairing of Kate Gosselin and Sarah Palin on Palin's "Alaska" reality TV series.
The core of my commentary was that Palin will never be president because she has sold herself too cheap to low-rent reality-TV venues like TLC, and now she is being perceived as another one of the channel's freak moms like Kate Gosselin or the women on the series "I Didn't Know I was Pregant." As the title so coyly suggests, that shows features women who gave birth and claim they didn't know ther were pregant. You can also now lump Palin in with the twisted stage moms of "Toddlers & Tiaras," a show that sexualizes little girls, and the women of "Sister Wives," TLC's celebration of polygamy.

Palin has been reduced to the level of Gosselin by allowing herself to become part of the debased TLC stable of "stars."
Was it really worth a million dollars for Palin to allow herself to be associated with the rest of the folks on this freak show reality-TV channel? Either way, this is the kind of thing that will keep her from ever being president.
Yes,Sarah, Ronald Reagan did have a TV career, too. But it was never with bottom-feeding programs like this.

Come on, even Johnny Carson made a national joke out of Bedtime for Bonzo. The only reason that Reagan himself wasn't seen as a joke, is because of his charm, wit, and intellect.
It didn't hold Reagan back and it won't hold Sarah back.

NS is not a conservative. NS is here on FR for one reason and NS stated that reason.. so he/she can fight on CW threads and not be deleted like he/ he was at other forums. NS is also quite the hero of the libs over at Politijab. NS used to post on DU until outed here then immediately stopped posting there, at least under that name. Bottom line, NS is a troll. See how NS got called out here and then left. That’s the MO of NS. When the radar spots him, get out of there and fly below it for a while and hope JR and the mods don’t notice it.

I'll take your word for that. But I have no desire to go to any of them.
It might be wise to promote other potential candidates and extoll their virtues rather than spending so much time trying to tear down Palin.

Who are you looking forward to as the GOP nominee? You got any potential candidates that aren't died in the wool RINOs with as much name recognition or support base as Palin? If not then you may need to make a decision as to whether you would support Palin or Obama.

lol. Yeah, right. Hawking electric ovens is lots more substantial and Presidential than shooting a caribou for your family's winter table.
They hate Palin because she's explicitly Christian, a mother of five and anti-abortion.
Her TV show may be cheesy, but it's a brilliant move. It endears her to her base, and draws in enemies who will only look like begrudging wussies if they trash her adventurous exploits.
I'm still not certain she can win, but she gets more interesting every day. I'd vote for her.

Been travelling all over and going to training session after training session. Who knew there was so much involved with stunt motorcycling?
Anyway, thanks for the sentiment (seriously). I’m back in limited amounts (perhaps best for all) but I AM back! I’m loving my new job so far and feel more invigorated and excited about learning something new (that I want to learn) for the first time in years.
Anyway, GREAT win by Duke last night. Hey DukieinKansas, what part of Kansas are you from? I’ll be flying into Kansas City March 7 to visit a friend and plan to watch the Duke/UNC game there.
