KABUL, Afghanistan -- Six NATO service members were killed Sunday in an insurgent attack in southern Afghanistan, the international alliance said in a statement.

NATO did not give further details, in keeping with a policy of waiting for individual countries from the alliance to identify their casualties.

Again the MSM designates the deceased as NATO troops. When Bush was president we had screaming headlines of not only U.S. troop deaths, but a running tally of the dead. It really PMO!!!

I believe this is better. It rips me up when any of our allies or our troops are killed. Not giving out the location, the circumstances and their nationality, gives us a couple of days of tension until their families are notified, but at least the Taliban and Al-Qaeda aren’t able to immediately know what they are accomplishing from their point of view. It may also give our troops time to retaliate under better conditions. Just a mom’s point of view.

Your view of laying down your life for others must be very tiny.

Whether the people of Afghanistan are freed from the Taliban, whether Pakistan allows us to annihilate Al-Qaeda, whether we surround Iran, whether we end jihad in Yemen and Somalia, whether Vietnam is free, the soldiers will die for each other and for those they love, and in doing so, practice the greatest form of love.

“6 NATO troops killed in attack in Afghanistan”

For what...because the Bama wanted to show that the RATS are macho.....nation building in Afghan is not possible....if it were warm enough those people would be running around in loin cloths.....only thing they produce is heroin. Bring our patriots home and let them defend our own borders!!

They were Americans, I’m sure. In a few days they will announce this it will be a blurb on the news and it will be buried by the classifieds in the print papers.

So very sad..

You would think, huh. I would wager it is 10% of the “economy” the other 90% is spread out amongst the corrupt government and is sitting in Switzerland.

“people of Afghanistan are freed from the Taliban ... greatest form of love”

Word to the wise - 99% of people don’t give a crap about that argument. They are not willing to see America soldiers die for crazy people who probably would turn round & stab us in the back later.

The only argument that will resonate with majority conservative Americans like on FR is if it’s in the national interest. I happen to believe that it is.

Every person I know who has been to Afghanistan, including one who was hit with an IED has no hatred of the Afghani’s. They have seen close up what the Taliban has done to them. The Taliban are NOT native Afghanis. Unfortunately, I think we backed the wrong horse in putting Karzai in charge and we are stuck with him.

Massoud and Dostum kicked Taliban butt after the civil war and with Massoud in charge they were on their way to stabilization. After Massoud’s assassination that is when it all went to sh!t again.

Yeah, and Islam will just leave us alone if we just leave. The US military is the only thing keeping you safe.

Tell that to my son and his brothers in arms. I personally believe we are at the point where people like you don’t deserve their protection.

IMHO, you are correct. Good men are dying for nothing in Afganistan. That is certainly not a slur against the soldiers, nor is it a slur against the Afgan people.

The whole mess is being mishandled at the top. And so I very much fear this will end just like Vietnam did.

I honestly cannot see any other outcome. Karzai is hopelessly corrupt. Afgans have no desire to die for him. The Afgan police are deserting in high numbers. I would expect their military to do much the same when our people start pulling back.

Add to that Taliban’s killing of village “collaborators”. When we pull back - as eventually we must - the villages will not stand up to the Taliban. They’ll roll over.

Christian Engineer Mass is also correct. Afganistan is very much in our national interest. Much, much more so than Vietnam was.

And that’s why a loss here will be much more tragic.
