Aren’t military officers and soldiers supposed to NOT talk about politics in public?

We can talk about politics, but we can't be advocates of a particular position. We are limited in how much we can work in campaigns, and cannot do anything political in such a way that it looks like the Army is endorsing something... I pretty much stopped campaign work when I joined the Army, it just got too complicated trying to figure out what I can and can't do.
