The Duchess of Cornwall was physically attacked through an open car window as thugs rampaged through London, the Standard can reveal today.
A rioter managed to push a stick through an open window of the limousine and jab her in the ribs. Camilla's terrifying ordeal came as a baying mob surrounded her and husband Prince Charles when they rode through central London in the vintage Rolls-Royce last night.
A police source said one of the car's rear windows was opened by mistake as tuition fee protesters moved in. The attack is the biggest royal security breach in decades and raises new questions about the protection of the couple.
The Standard can now reveal the breach was even more serious than first appeared, with thugs managing to reach deep into the car's interior.
Armed officers were seconds from drawing their weapons but the police driver managed to accelerate away from trouble. Police sources have revealed that the Duchess was “very scared” when the yob leaned into the car.

We are living in interesting and dangerous times. We are in a strong transitional period and it could tip in one of many directions. We almost became a socialist country during the depression. Times are about to be worse, allowing excuses to create even greater, and more frightening, change.

It could be headed off by wise heads. Now many years ago there was to Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC). No need to send anyone to prison at all. One month in a useful work environment and fifty dollars a week pocket money. No alcohol or tobacco either. It would "kill 'em".
Of course the liberals would then equate such a scheme with the Nazi forced labour camps. As I have said hard work would scare the bejabbers out of them.

I keep wondering when British royalty will reclaim their authority and power.
What a disgrace British royalty has become over the centuries. Had Henry V been in the car, there would have been several dead protesters.
I think that we’re going to see some full blown collapse once mid-January hits and there are not even seasonable jobs to hire people onto. That will be the worst; there will, be so much homelessness and literal starvation I don’t think that too many governments, except those that take drastic action in the right direction, will survive.
I think that only the smartest will survive it all and this is probably a good thing in retrospect. Learning a trade will be a smart thing right now and those are the only ones who are going to survive this mess. I’m more than sure that there will be a lot of underground businesses that will be set up and ‘under the radar’ providing cash only services.
I wonder if there will be students literally marching into Parliament next, or into the neighborhoods where the politicians live. Only a matter of time.
It doesn’t look at all like a mask, and I agree with you that he looks distinctly Arabic.
He’s in motion, and the image is blurred, so you can’t really depend on it for an accurate image of someone’s ethnicity. People with big noses come from all sorts of backgrounds. Even with uncorrected color balance it apparent to me he is not anything close to typical middle-eastern complexion.
The Prince put his wife on the floor of the car and his own body between her and the attackers. He and the security officers remained in the car so it could continue moving.
There were some major mistakes made here, but if you think he could have realistically done anything else besides shield his wife, I think you are wrong. He wasn’t armed. His security were and they didn’t seem to feel the need to use force either - why, I don’t know.
I have stood within yards of the Prince as somebody charged towards him firing a pistol. He remained calm and composed and faced the danger. He’s done this before. His job in this situation - what he is trained to do - is exactly what he did. Stay within security or stay where you are until help arrives. People are willing to risk their lives to protect him if need be - they expect him to be where he’s meant to be, or he risks wasting that.
While the Royal Family does have some heavily armoured vehicles, bullet proof glass, etc. not all of them are. The Prince of Wales and the Duchess were in the Silver Jubilee Car during this incident, which is designed for visibility - that is to make the occupants visible. That was obviously not the right choice given the situation in London at the moment. He should have been (in my view) in his normal car which is an armoured Bentley Turbo R. Somebody obviously decided they wanted a display for the Royal Variety Performance. Balancing the public's desire to see the Royal Family and the need for their protection is not an easy task, but I think a lot of people will say somebody just got it wrong.
