They just like to keep it around as a club. Kind of like Don't Ask/Don't Tell. Obama could have eliminated that policy on the limo ride back from the Capitol on Inaugeration Day. But they keep issues like that around, to use over and over again, whenever they need some cheap political theater.
How many times will this happen before the 9/11 responders realize they are just being played? Since most of them belong to labor unions, I bet it will be a long, long time.
Next, Reid will bring up the Save the Cute Fluffy Kittens bill
Didn’t these 9/11 “victims” just get like $600 million to split up between them?
Note to self: Don’t volunteer for any terrorist attack cleanups. Let’s roll!
I think party of this bill is pre-paid compensation...in case they get sick in the future.
What, don't you like Cute Fluffy Kittehs? Why do you want to kill the Cute Fluffy Kittehs?
That’s one of the most blatantly propagandistic articles I’ve seen for a long time.
Explain this payoff to me.
The people claiming dollars for their services all have health care of their own. If they cannot afford care they have Medicaid. What they want is a bonus of some sort. Don’t they all have life insurance on their own?
Does anyone know if a police officer participate in life insurance program at work?
It seems as tho they want a payout for helping search for victims after the attack. They were given breathing apparatus but complained about it being too cumbersome.
Sorry to be cold hearted but I fail to see how the taxpayer is responsible for these billions of dollars.
Why wasn’t this debated with the healthcare bill? Why is this being done as a last resort? Why do the RATs care so little about them that they relegated them to a lame-duck tactic? These are the questions Republicans need to ask on camera.
As sfar as I can tell, the bill makes no sense at all. The one purpose of this bill is to score cheap political points when Republicans vote against it. Whenever the Democrats have a bad day ahead, they schedule a vote on this bill in the Senate, so they can change the subject.
So will we filibuster Amnesty as well?
Screw the leeches and their "rage."
They inhaled smoke and dust, now they claim nebulous (or possibly non-existent) adverse health symptoms and want the rest of us to shell out the big bucks so they can ride the leisure train.
Even if they did have health problems, they signed up for a dangerous job. Duh.
It's time to put an end to the notion that getting hurt or sick at a job YOU choose to do is akin to winning the lottery.
This crap has been hanging around for years. The biggest pusher of this is Peter King of NY. He has one goal.....more money more money more money.
With this shameless begging he is assured re-election. All the while he praises bubba to the skis. They act like best buddies and are often seen together at various NY functions.
If he was so concerned about homeland security he wouldn’t be such great friends with the former president who was the best enabler of terrorists the world has ever known.
True ‘dat...
Hang tough, Pubbies. Don;t let the media onslaught put you off course.
I like the quote victims unquote comment. I’m retired NYPD and I labored at Ground Zero. I knew people who died down there and people that became ill. I even know a police dog that became ill. Luckily I’m neither dead nor sick (up till now).
I’m sure each and every one of them was more of a man or woman in their little pinkie then you are in your whole body. I’d love for someone to make a comment like that to my face.
Could this article be anymore biased?!?
12 months in Afghanistan. Shot at, mortared or bomb nearly every day.
Gawd - I am so sick of these 9/11 “heros” - as much money as they have taken from the government ON TOP of their job benefits and compensation.
IT IS NEVER ENOUGH for them.
"Even some Republicans who might have backed the bill gave it the thumbs-down, sticking to a party pledge to block anything until the tax deal extending the Bush-era cuts for the wealthy passes."
NOPE!
