Ron Paul casts lone vote against House resolution honoring heroic Chinese dissident

The roll: 402-1. The dissident in question is Nobel winner Liu Xiaobo, whose existence so upsets the totalitarians in Beijing that on top of locking him away and making his wife disappear, they’ve organized a boycott of the Nobel ceremony and introduced their very own “Confucius Prize” as an alternative. (Pelosi, to her great credit, is attending the Nobel ceremony to show her support for Liu.) Shouldn’t a proud libertarian want to recognize a guy doing his level best to strike a blow for freedom against a giant, vicious state machine? No, ostensibly for two reasons: The House resolution is purely hortatory and therefore a meaningless waste of taxpayer time and money, and of course we shouldn’t be so arrogant as to meddle in other nations’ internal affairs. Even if that meddling consists of saying, “Hey, please don’t kill that guy for writing some stuff about democracy.”

Ron, it’s not a waste of time. Would you rather have them working to pass the Dream Act?

LOL. Ron Paul is a Libertarian, loony crank, not a conservative.

He just got confused when he voted for Nancy Pelosi’s tax hike bill last week. Fraud Paul is getting up in age... when he voted No he probably thought he was still in his old Dr. job and conducting a pap smear.

You see, folks — this is part of the reason why most conservatives don’t take Paul seriously, despite his fine-sounding platitudes and principles.

At the end of the day, he just doesn’t live in the real world.

I’d be a Ron Paul fan if he’d be consistent. He’s all over the map. Conservative is conservative, it’s not a hunt and peck system.

Ron Paul is not a Conservative but a Libertarian. He’s smart when it comes to issues like auditing the fed, but on issues of this nature he’s always on the wrong side of the issue.

“Waste of time” can’t be his reason.

Last week he and everyone else voted for H RES 1638 “Supporting the goals and ideals of National GEAR UP Day” That sounds like pointless legislation, I would’ve voted against that.

Today Congress also for some reason passed a bill “Honoring the 2500th anniversary of the Battle of Marathon” and for some reason 42 Republicans (including Paul) and 2 rats voted against it.

.. wow, it has been a wild two weeks for Fraud Paule..
First, he votes against condemning North Korea’s attacks on the South. Then he votes for Nancy Piglosi’s tax hike bill. He then votes against condemning Assange and actually twitters support of Assange and encourages his criminal behavior. Now, he votes against a simple resolution honoring someone fighting for freedom and liberty.

Kind of like when he voted against giving Rosa Parks the medal of freedom, yet a few months prior, co-signed a bill honoring a baseball pitcher from his district.
