I picked up my first ship in the Philippines and after a trip to Australia and New Zealand we preceded to our homeport of Pearl Harbor, HI. We arrived during the filming of Tora, Tora, Tora and it was almost overwhelming to see Japanese Zeros flying over us as we entered the channel. I was unaware that the film was being made ... an experience I will never forget. LOL!

Rest in Peace, fallen brother, rest in peace! We who remain hold you in high honor. Rest, fallen brother, in this sacred precinct; We who remain keep this place sacred. Rest, fallen brother, among these, your comrades; We who remain keep the watch. Rest, fallen brother, among these who answered the Nations call; We who remain press the fight forward in your name. Rest, fallen brother, lay down thy burden; We who remain have taken up the torch. Rest in Peace, fallen brother, rest in eternal peace!

Evening Navy Bro!!
My post #10 reflects my Dad's view of the Japanese, 'nuff said!
Do you just want to concede defeat tonight before the Army-Navy game or are you a true glutton for punishment?!

I have the original movie ‘Toro Toro’....still watch it pretty frequently as well as the newer version ‘Pearl Harbor’. Both excellent movies and pretty accurate.

There’s 1102 Americans in that ship.
69 years doesn’t dim the horror.

Good evening, Army Bro!
Your dad's attitude pretty much sets it out - I agree with him 100%.
"On Navy down the field - fight our battle cry-y-y-y!
We'll never give an inch, so Army Mule steer shy-y-y-y!
Roll up the score, Navy, Anchors Aweigh!
Until we meet once more we'l sink the Army, sink the Army Grey!!!!"

Here are a couple of politically incorrect songs recorded by Carson Robison on the Bluebird label in December, 1941:
