My opinion/take on the Tax Cuts...
12/06/2010 | TMMT

While many here are upset that UI was extended another 13 months, I think the angry those few of you hold for the Repubs pale by comparison to the anger the left now holds for Obama.

Many of the reporters on an[ll the channels are saying openly that RAT aide are emailing them worried the base will now fall apart and that they could possibly see an open revolt within the party.

One even made mention to the left waiting for the first RAT to step up and demand Obambi's birth certificate.

Over at DU they are now calling all to arms to find someone to challenge Bambi for the nomination.

Folks Christmas has come a few days early!!!

This might very well be the straw that will break the camels back, for Bambi's political career.

From now on the only support he'll have will be the black vote.

I'm one who agrees with you.

I agree. The Rats are still fully in charge and will get the heat for extending Ump. The left is going to explode over this. Obummer has railed against tax cuts for the rich and then folds like a cheap umbrella before he had to. He is going to feel this for a long time.

Nope...

In exchange for concessions on tax cuts, Republicans agreed to a 13-month extension of a lapsed benefits program for the long-term unemployed.

I’m totally with you. We can’t be short-sighted here and look past the November results because we have to remember The Wicked Witch is still running the show in the House and she just not only thrown under the bus but it backed over her afterwards.

Think about this; the RATS still control 2/3’rds of the government after the January turnover, so the Repubs in the House put forward a bill that will force the Unemployment Benefits Extension Act be paid for by the remaining Stimulus money. We are talking about an epic battle here that the Repubs can’t lose if they play it right, and judging from what I’ve seen from Boehner, he’ll play it up perfectly. It would be the best start to serious deficit reduction and knock Obama on his backside so quick he wouldn’t know what to do.

Because of Obama’s puerile partisan speech tonight he just dug himself yet another hole with his arrogance. It’s a great thing to watch, don’t get mad at the small things and look at the big picture. This is a HUGE win no matter how you look at it and can be played politically for years. This is even bigger than “Read My Lips”.

piling on more and more debt.

The GOP failed to keep another promise.

No typo Shirley.. that is 13 months as in 56.33 weeks on top of what? 99 weeks or a total of 155 weeks or just shy of THREE years of being paid the equivalent of about $15/hour not to work (at least that is what it is before taxes around here).

Taxes aren’t being cut. Tax hikes are being postponed.

It might be the equivalent of $15 an hour where you live but in Florida the maximum amount is $255 per week, hardly enough to sit at home in luxury.

Enjoyed this one...

I am increasingly suspicious that Democrats “standing up for the middle class” is mostly political theater. Nearly every senator is a millionaire (maybe all, now that Feingold’s gone), so how serious are any of them about the plight of the middle, working class, and poor? Certainly President Obama, who I and many other progressives campaigned tirelessly for, has been confronted with more than enough divisive issues to show some backbone. Mine’s sore form carrying all those signs that, lately anyway, look like they might have been hot air. Hope not, but hope’s fading.

they could possibly see an open revolt within the party.

I'm just praying that any internal conflicts within the Democrat Party are fought with automatic weapons. Amongst each other, of course.

Even they know that the Communist usurper of the throne is illegal.

It would be great if the RATS ratted him out on the bc. They have a long list of Zero’s offenses they are amped up about. If a “credible” candidate to his left primary’s him, he’ll be caught in the crossfire and be screwed. Aside from that he is screwed anyway.

I am a liberal and proud of it. I put in several weeks at an Obama phone bank in ‘08. I don’t know about other liberals, but President Obama has permanently lost this liberal. In ‘12 I will not help Obama get re-elected. He has been a total sell-out.

Does anyone believe that OBAMA was elected by conservatives? middle-of-the-roaders? Pre-Tea-par-tiers? He was elected by LIBERALS.

If the Democrats what a repeat of 2008; they will have to run Hillary.

I am disgusted by this turn of events. Until now I gave the President the benefit of the doubt. Now I am ready to move on. This is unacceptable. Particularly because an overwhelming majority of the American people believe that the tax cuts for the wealthy (over $250,00 or however you define it) should expire. President Obama could have stood on principle and garnered support. Instead he caved. I’m done.

If there is a loser in this deal it is FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY. Maybe its a good thing that the Tea Party winners don't have to vote on this agreement.

You need to read the article about how minimum wage workers have MORE disposable income than those earning $60k/yr thanks to the myriad of government handouts they receive. I would guess the unemployed get the same - if not more - in benefits.
