The Department of Defense is slamming the door on questions about the mysterious contrail filmed Nov. 8 by a KCBS television crew near Los Angeles after questions were raised about a warning from the National Geo-Spatial Intelligence Agency that there could be missiles fired in that area at that time.

‘Tis you that apparently lacks understanding of what a great circle is.
Any time that you are using a calculated course from one set of coordinates to another, whether you realize it or not, you are traversing a great circle, i.e. an arc on the surface of the Earth formed by a plane that passes through its center.
(Don't tell me you're not familiar with that old saying...) :-|
"camera to the north at LAX"
To: editor-surveyorJust did and thanks.
I don't see its relevance at all. Nothing about anyone being south of the "event." It's a little light in information period.
No one saw or taped the missile for ten minutes. That question has been settled now. It was observed for at most three minutes.
I thanked you for that analysis and for eliminating UPS902 from further consideration right here.
Another pathetic logical fail...if we disagree with you (and show proof to your lack of proof), then we aren't a "patriot" like you. That is so lame, even for you. BTW, have you gotten any data yet to prove your point, or do you just get off on making everyone else disprove you?
Your reading comprehension stinks. I wasn't talking about myself. Obviously.
I blew your "elimination" out of the water with # 148. And my recent posts reinforce that -- if you have the wherewithal to comprehend English.
Go away. I'm tired of watching you run in circles...
My apologies.
I didn't mean to treat you like a peer, or even an adult.
I can see my effort was quite mis-spent.
Have a great, stupid life, Missile Truther.
To: missnry; Sprite518; saganiteCorrect. See It was US Airways flight 808 ("missile" launch)
You were awfully sure about it and posted about it several times.
I wouldn't consider someone who tells falsehoods about Brigadier Generals in order to smear them an adult or a peer of mine.
;-\
AWE808 was a good first approximation; UPS902 is a perfect fit to reality. .
Intellectually honest people have no problem seeing and admitting their own errors -- and correcting them as the data are refined. That's the way progress is made
I made an honest attempt to answer you -- on the same question I answered earlier. That was a mistake; all you want to do is play NIGYYSOB -- and I ain't playing your silly game.
~~~
Now go away and don't waste any more of my time -- until you have made an HONEST and serious effort to understand what I have written and drawn -- IF you have that capability. And take your silly, off-topic distractions and games with you.
That means that it is impossible to be a contrail from UPS902 because we know where Gil Leyvas position was and it was far to the north of UPS902's flight path. He also said he saw a normal airplane contrail far to his south.
That should answer # 148.
My position has remained unchanged since this story first broke. It's not my fault you have had to play catch up with your own constantly changing explanations.
Never mind that they have zero knowledge of the sun's azimuth or angular position below the horizon -- or of the contrail's relative position as it races southward.
I made an earlier attempt to show the process of sunset relative to the contrails.
The problem was that it showed the setting for the day I made the video, Nov.26
I couldn't see a way to go back in time to Nov.8.
Your posts got me to thinking again
and I wondered if setting my computer time to Nov.8 would do the trick.
When I went to open Google Earth and test the idea I was notified of an available update.
Turned out the update included a specific tool for going back in time.
I threw together another video of the setting sun for Nov.8
Stops for a bit at T=30 which is 5:19 mark on this pic
and then continues on and pauses at the 5:24 mark before ending.
Not sure if anything can be extrapolated from such an approach
that would help determine the Sun's position relative to the contrail...
...but it was fun tinkering around with the tools.
Thanks for getting me thinking!
