Terrorism is a real possibility. Conditions were perfect to light up the forest, no rain in 8 months plus high winds. The region has the highest concentrations of Arabs of any part within Greenline Israel, and is close to Lebanon (though the Arabs in the area have a reputation of NOT being very radical at all).
"The fire spread from three locations simultaneously making arson a likely possibility." "Deputy Minister Ayoub Kara (Likud), a resident of Usfiyeh, said on Channel 10 Thursday evening that he has received information that the fire is a terror act. ........"
"..... Large scale fires recently consumed 5,000 acres in the Golan Heights. A fire was set in the Gilad Farm several weeks ago and an Arab was seen fleeing by a group of soldiers in the area..
"The numerous large fires that broke out or were set this year depleted Israel's reserves of fire-fighting chemicals, and the supply of chemicals is expected to be used up completely by Friday morning. Israeli planes are reported to be en route to France to bring more supplies of fire-dousing materials.
Arutz Sheva is now reporting death toll at 42 or 43.
"Israeli authorities are expecting to receive more than 20 firefighting aircraft Thursday night from Britain, France, Romania, Greece, Cyprus, Spain, Croatia, Azerbaijan and Russia to help in the effort to contain the northern blaze.....
40 prison guards burned to death... the poor guys never stood a chance. It will be a sad Hanukkah in Israel. They’re trying to stop fire at Highway Four on the mountain range and firefighters are overworked.
I pray for them and mourn for the dead.
If youd like to be on or off, please FR mail me.

Yes, there are plenty of forests here, mostly pine and cedar, I think. I can’t help it if photographers aren’t interested in them. No, one shouldn’t joke about 40 people dead.
Of course it was the Amish, who were just here for a visit. The piece-loving Palestinians would never commit arson.

THX.
Horrific.
May God have mercy and put this fire out ASAP.
Rockets set off forest fires in the hills above Kiryat Sh’monah (where I planted several trees)back in 2006. Do they know what stated this one?
Prayers for Our Israeli Friends.
This is the view from Carmel, looking toward the Jezreel Valley, as it appeared in June 2006 when I was there.
Prayers offered up.
This is horrible :(
Prayers up for Israel .
Agreed.
Prayers offered.
What a coincidence!

cut and pasted from the article :
According to an unconfirmed report on rotter.net, Radio Haifa reported that Arabs have been dancing in the streets of Furadis, just south of Haifa, in celebration of the deadly fire.
Israel has lots of forests and a massive reforestation program. The old PLO arsonists used to try and burn them down and did succeed in some cases.
This makes the PLO/PLA/Hamas anti-trees. Gee Greenpeace will really scold them and the Sierra Club will hold a meeting or a circlejerk or something.
The death toll is horrific. If this was not an act of jihadic related forest terrorism, it shall certainly give the Islamic dishrags another twisted method for mass murder.
And over 80 perished in the Mt. Carmel fire outside of Waco.
