Sweden's Supreme Court today upheld an arrest order for WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange on allegations of sexual assault, a move that will further pressure police in the U.K. to detain the elusive Australian hacker in the country where he is known to be hiding.
Assange, whose website this week released hundreds of secret U.S. diplomatic cables, has denied the rape allegations made by two Swedish women in August. He had previously appealed two lower court rulings that would have allowed investigators to detain him.
Although he has yet to be formally charged, Interpol Tuesday released a "red notice," an alert to 188 countries, calling on them to detain Assange. Sweden announced Wednesday that it had issued a Europe-wide arrest warrant for him
Lawyers for the Australian, 39, say British police know he is in the U.K. and has been in touch with authorities, even turning over his phone number and address.
He has given several interviews online this week, but has not been seen since a Nov. 5 news conference in Geneva.
Swedish police Thursday said they would again file a European arrest warrant after police in Britain said certain specifications were missing, according to media reports. Scotland Yard told ABCNews.com it would not comment on the case or Assange's whereabouts.

“Summon the firing squad”.
Poor guy...
As long as he was a useful idiot for the Soros Democrats, attacking Republicans and Bush, he was a hero, free to roam the world doing what ever his perverted mind wanted.
Then, he DARES to attack and embarrass the DEMOCRATS, and hell itself is dropped upon him, almost like it was for Cindy Sheehan after she attacked Hillary.
The typical end for a useful liberal idiot, I’m afraid. Dissent is not tolerated when the Democrats are in charge.
Ivan is on the trail, JA better hope Interpol finds him first.
Dear Assange Family, Please find enclosed a bill for the cost of one bullet. Send a Cashier’s Check to: The People’s Republic of China.
How about a pool.
I hope there is someone left to release any bank data that shows fraud and lawbreaking or crimes against the American people.
Don’t you find it odd that the leak in July went unpunished, the leaks last week originally went unpunished, but once he said in an interview that he had information on a major US Bank which he intended to expose after the first of the year, everybody went nuts with the warrants and such?
More than Odd. Guess who controls this country?
I bet Dan Rather knows where he is ... get that interview ...
