Hill sources tell us that Speaker Pelosi plans to hold a vote on the DREAM Act (H.R. 1751) on Thursday, December 2nd. Please call your Rep. NOW and ask him/her to vote NO on the DREAM Act. Capitol Hill switchboard: 202-224-3121. Check your Action Board for more details and be sure to check your inbox regularly for updates and important actions you can take.
Mine is so far left he leans that way when he walks... a call would only work in the opposite way.
They are probably hoping that passing it in the House will get some senators off the fence and into the yay column.
I still think it dies in the Senate.
Yeah. I’ll be out there for a couple weeks. Gotta go see the Chargers. 3 home games in 2 weeks!
My Rep doesn’t need a call to remind him which way is up. That’s why I voted for him.
SnakeDoc
As long as the Republicans in the Senate are serious about that “nothing moves before the tax hike is resolved” thing, Harry Reid can DREAM on about this. I don’t think it sees the Senate floor before Christmas, which means never.
1) A wall built at the Mexican border, heavily guarded by US border patrol
2) ICE rounding up every illegal alien for registration, finger-printing, and citizenship status
3) Deportation of those without proper US citizenship, authorization, or green card status
4) A definitive cut-off date and termination of all FREE social services, including FREE tuition, food, shelter, social security benefits, for ALL illegal aliens, and annulment of "Anchor Baby" dynamics of the flawed 14th Amendment
5) The return to sanity and of profiling as a law enforcement tool
Political Correctness has made slaves of us and divided America. ENOUGH.
Is this so wrong?
Wouldn’t they be in chambers already? If it is today and it is noon they may even have voted already.
This article includes the text of a version of the bill.
Evidently there are several versions.
Thank you for contacting me to express your concerns about border security and immigration. I appreciate your thoughts on this matter and welcome the opportunity to respond.
Few issues have aroused as much passion, from all sides, as this one. I share your frustrations. No matter which side of the issue, or border, you stand, it is clear that our immigration system is broken. It no longer reflects the American traditions of compassion and inclusion for those seeking opportunity nor most effectively ensures the security of every American within its borders.
As a member of the House Appropriations Committee, which determines funding levels for all federal programs, I recently voted for and Congress passed $600 million to strengthen border security and reduce violence along the Southwest border. This important legislation will provide funding for the hiring of 1,000 new Border Patrol agents to patrol the southern border and 250 new Custom and Border Protection agents.
I am also a co-sponsor of H.R. 4321, the Comprehensive Immigration Reform for America's Security and Prosperity Act, introduced by Representative Solomon Ortiz of Texas on December 15, 2009. If passed by Congress and signed into law, this comprehensive immigration reform legislation would create a verification system for employers to determine whether their employee was an undocumented worker, increase the number of Customs and Border Protection officers and border security personnel, and direct the Secretary of Homeland Security to develop and submit to Congress a National Strategy for Border Security. H.R. 4321 was referred to several House committees including Judiciary, Homeland Security, and Foreign Affairs, where it awaits further consideration.
You may also be interested to learn that I supported an amendment to the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act that would have provided for a five-year reauthorization of the existing voluntary E-Verify program. Unfortunately, this amendment was not included in the final version of the bill that was passed.
It is time to enact sensible, solution-based immigration reform.
Please be assured that I will keep your views firmly in mind should I have the opportunity to vote on further legislation pertaining to immigration, border security, or employment verification.
Thank you again for contacting me. Please do not hesitate to do so again on any matter of concern. You can also visit my website (http://house.gov/israel) to learn more about the issues important to you and to sign up for my e-mail updates.
Sincerely,
STEVE ISRAEL
Member of Congress
Ping!
I don’t think so. That has been my approach all along.
First, secure the borders, find out and catalogue who is here, send them back to apply for green cards if they have an employer here, and put them behind everyone already in line for citizenship if the DO apply and get a green card.
And getting rid of the Anchor Baby loophole is huge. As long as it exists, they will kill themselves to get onto our soil.
He is one of Pelosi's lap-poodles anyway.
This will be his last "FU!" to NH-2.
Don't blame you! Just kidding......
I'm a Giants fanatic (hence the above dig)..... Chargers are my second team.
And getting rid of the Anchor Baby loophole is huge. As long as it exists, they will kill themselves to get onto our soil.
It's no-brainer for us. And them. WE need to make the rules.
Much more than 3 million. Illegals fake social security numbers so why won't they fake the requirements for this Amnesty.Plus all get to bring in their families from the 3rd world. Remember it is some government agency full of liberals/democrats who will be the deciders as to who qualifies for Amnesty.
Deport all illegals. Build a fence.
Most illegals 90% of them , vote for socialism/democrats which is why they are being imported by the millions.
This isn't about Race. Would like to know where Marco Rubio is on this.
