Civil unions for same-sex couples would be allowed in Illinois under historic legislation the state Senate swiftly sent today to Gov. Pat Quinn, who is expected to sign the measure.
The bill would give gay couples the chance to enjoy several of the same rights as married couples, ranging from legal rights on probate matters to visiting a partner in a hospital that won’t allow anyone but relatives into a patient’s room.
The Senate voted 32-24 after the House, viewed as the toughest hurdle, passed the measure on Tuesday.

Both of those rights can already be met without this union crap...the word UNION is meaningful....except it never will occur with two fags/lesbians, does it!!!
They want something called marriage, performed in front of the church of their choice by the force of law.
It has never been about the legal issues, but rather forcing people, primarily Christians, to accept their deviant lifestyles.
Something called a “contract” or a “civil union” is not all that gays want, of course, but the monotary benefits (health,SS,insurance, etc,) that would cost all of ua is a true worry. We can’t even begin to cover the expenses due to all straight couples, their retirements, their children, etc. Of course gays are making an beeline for these goodies.
We are in serious trouble on this issue and are nearing a point of no return. One only need look at poll numbers to see that. The young have very different attitudes about gays and morality than the generations before them. Given Hollywood and NEA propaganda this isn’t a surprise but it is true. As more and more pro-homos get to be of voting age and the older more traditional generations start to age out, the harder it will be to beat back this pink tide. In some states it is already too late. In those where it isn’t we need to work hard to put legal/constructional frameworks in place to combat this next generation.
Well, at least it’s not marriage.
Civil Union— same sex marriage all part of the same damned
FRAUD. Marriage is a union between a man and a woman in Holy
Matrimony and anything else is just “dilution stupid spelled FRAUD. Kinda like Communism and the ACLU —or murder —and
abortion are all of the same evil source.
I couldn’t say it better. Its all about destroying Christianity and the church. Needless to say that if “married” in a church, it IS NOT marriage, its blasphemy. Good way to make it to hell.
