A German's View on Islam
A man, whose family was German aristocracy prior to World War II, owned a number of large industries and estates. When asked how many German people were true Nazis, the answer he gave can guide our attitude toward fanaticism. "Very few people were true Nazis," he said, "but many enjoyed the return of German pride, and many more were too busy to care. I was one of those who just thought the Nazis were a bunch of fools. So, the majority just sat back and let it all happen. Then, before we knew it, they owned us, and we had lost control, and the end of the world had come. My family lost everything I ended up in a concentration camp and the Allies destroyed my factories."
We are told again and again by 'experts' and 'talking heads' that Islam is the religion of peace and that the vast majority of Muslims just want to live in peace. Although this unqualified assertion may be true, it is entirely irrelevant. It is meaningless fluff, meant to make us feel better, and meant to somehow diminish the spectra of fanatics rampaging across the globe in the name of Islam.
The fact is that the fanatics rule Islam at this moment in history. It is the fanatics who march. It is the fanatics who wage any one of 50 shooting wars worldwide. It is the fanatics who systematically slaughter Christian or tribal groups throughout Africa and are gradually taking over the entire continent in an Islamic wave. It is the fanatics who bomb, behead, murder, or honour-kill. It is the fanatics who take over mosque after mosque. It is the fanatics who zealously spread the stoning and hanging of rape victims and homosexuals. It is the fanatics who teach their young to kill and to become suicide bombers.
The hard, quantifiable fact is that the peaceful majority, the 'silent majority,' is cowed and extraneous.
Communist Russia comprised Russians who just wanted to live in peace, yet the Russian Communists were responsible for the murder of about 20 million people. The peaceful majority were irrelevant. China's huge population was peaceful as well, but Chinese Communists managed to kill a staggering 70 million people. The average Japanese individual prior to World War II was not a warmongering sadist. Yet, Japan murdered and slaughtered its way across South East Asia in an orgy of killing that included the systematic murder of 12 million Chinese civilians; most killed by sword, shovel, and bayonet. And who can forget Rwanda, which collapsed into butchery. Could it not be said that the majority of Rwandans were 'peace loving'?
History lessons are often incredibly simple and blunt, yet for all our powers of reason, we often miss the most basic and uncomplicated of points:
Peace-loving Muslims have been made irrelevant by their silence. Peace-loving Muslims will become our enemy if they don't speak up, because like my friend from Germany, they will awaken one day and find that the fanatics own them, and the end of their world will have begun. Peace-loving Germans, Japanese, Chinese, Russians, Rwandans, Serbs, Afghans, Iraqis, Palestinians, Somalis, Nigerians, Algerians, and many others have died because the peaceful majority did not speak up until it was too late. As for us who watch it all unfold, we must pay attention to the only group that counts - the fanatics who threaten our way of life.
Lastly, anyone who doubts that the issue is serious is simply contributing to the passiveness that allows the problems to expand. So, extend yourself a bit - before it really is too late.

When two groups such as fanatical and moderate Moslims share the same basic principles and ultimate ends, but differ in the means of achieving those ends, it is the more consistent one who wins in the long run.

It’s the lack of outrage especially amongst the “leaders” of Islam that gives it the bad image. It’s tacit approval and the Ground Zero Mosque just reinforced it. Until Islam shows genuine outrage at its minority of radicals and joins the fight against terrorism in full force, only mindnumbed PC types will defend it.

I agree that most muslims oppose the radical side of their religion. But will not speak out against it out of fear. This is what happened with the Nazi and Communist movements. A few(10%) controlled the masses(90%).Even in our country the majority of American(politicians) now know that obama is not a Natural born citizen and not the legal President. But most politicians will not oppose him , out of a fear that it would destroy their careers. When a nation of citizens will not stand up to protect their nation , it will collapse. If we do not stand up against obama and the radical muslim movement we are doomed.

Speaking to the "religion of peace," assertion that we hear from Muslims and ignorant (yes, ignorant) Westerners, when Muslims assert that Islam is a “religion of peace” they are not engaging in al taqqiya, they are actually making an assertion in good faith.
The problem lies in the fact that Islam has, from the Western point ov view, a defective concept of peace. In semitic languages like Arabic, the consonants are the “root” of the word: islam = submission, and salam = peace have the same root, slm.
The only concept of peace in Islamic jurisprudence is the peace between the conqueror and the conquered, between master and slave. There is no concept of a negotiated peace between nations in Islamic law (and note that law is the defining property of Islam—their clerics are jurists, schools of Qu’ranic interpretation are called fiqh, a legalistic term)—Muslims may negotiate a “hudna” or armistice of limited duration with non-Muslim, but not a definitive enduring peace.
In that regard, Islam was, is and will be a serial murderer of entire cultures and peoples if we allow it go unchecked - with everything that implies. This is what Islam has done throughout its entire 1400 year history. This is what it has done whenever it has finally gotten the upper hand in whatever culture is has opposed. Those whom Islam does not destroy, it enslaves, diminishes and impoverishes. Islam strives for the conversion, enslavement or death of all who do not conform to its sadistic and cruel vision of Mankind. Islam cannot be ‘reformed’ in the light of our Western values of humanity and freedom. Were that so, it would no longer be Islam. There is a fundamental flaw in this article and in the responses. That is, you are treating Islam as if it is a Nation, with leaders. Islam is not a Nation, though, it is a Religion.
Muslims live in many Nations, and are identified as Muslim based on their beliefs, not their allegiance to a Government which regulates all Muslims wherever they are.
That said, what leaders? Islam is like Christianity and Judaism, in that it is divided into differing sects. The bloke who said “They are just following the Religion as written in the Koran and Hadiths”, for instance, may be surprised to learn that not all Muslims have the same Hadiths, and not all Muslims use the Hadiths at all. Some Sects are “Koran Alone” sects who use literally only the Koran as Sacred Scripture. Even those who do us the Hadiths have different collections, and the Sunni and Shiite Muslims are well known to not have exactly the same Hadiths, or the same interpretation of Sharia Law.
Its not alike all Muslims belong to exactly the same Religion and have exactly the same beliefs.
Further, the Claim that Muslim leaders never speak out against Radicalism may be a commonly repeated one, but it is actually false. Many Muslims have opposed Terrorism, openly.

The whole thing is barmy. The claim that Muslims never spead out against Terror is just an old cobbler, and the Anti-Islamic claims in the article you wrote are just lifted form elsewhere and repeated without any proper study in the topic.

Definitely the best thread I’ve ever read on this site...
Islam is NOT merely a religion. It is a complete religious, political, moral and philosophical system. Of course there are divisions between muslims over many topics, and those divisions are often looked over by muslim bashers, but there are a great many more similarities than differences.
Oddly, many muslims could say in exactly the same way that Christianity promotes evil. All you have to do is lift some of the meatier passages from the old testement.
