AND NOW . . . amidst billowing clouds of fragrant, aromatic first- and second-hand premium cigar smoke. . . it is time for . . . that harmless, lovable little fuzz ball, the highly-trained broadcast specialist, having more fun than a human being should be allowed to have, from behind the golden EIB microphone, firmly ensconced in the prestigious Attila-the-Hun chair at the Limbaugh Institute of Advanced Conservative Studies, serving humanity simply by showing up, and he’s not retiring until every American agrees with him, do NOT doubt him, with shrieks of joy at the mere mention of his name (that’s Rush, for those in Rio Linda),the Mandarin of Talk Radio, with talent on loan from G-d, at the cutting-edge of societal evolution, with half his brain tied behind his back — just to make it fair, the all-knowing, all-caring, all-sensing, all-feeling, all-concerned Maha-Rushie! America’s anchorman, truth detector, and doctor of democracy. A Real Man, a living legend, a way of life. Commander in Chief of U.S. Operation Chaos. Chief Waga-Waga El Rushbo of the El Conservo Tribe. Chief of the Patriotism Police. Leader of the Conservative Movement. A Weapon of Mass Instruction. El Rushbo (a little Spanish lingo, there). He is the man who is running America (you know it and I know it). He knows the Democrats like every square inch of his glorious naked body. He is ready to do what he was born to do—that’s host. Get ready to what you were born to do—that’s listen (and post your comments on the Rush Limbaugh LIVE Radio Thread).

Well, if anyone wants to go back to the NYS ciggie tax thing, NYS doesn't have a revenue problem.

We have a SPENDING problem.

Case in point...

(New York) State put freeze on hiring, then added 51,464 people

But state officials hired 51,464 people at a cost to taxpayers of more than $1 billion in salaries, plus fringe benefits, since that decree on July 30, 2008.

The hires include sons of elected officials, a close friend of the governor’s and a slew of highly paid political appointees.

Noto to our gov-elect who's supposedly running around trying to find places to cut: Here are 50,000 to start with.

And note to Matt Lauer: If you’re so hot to pay more income tax, pard, nobody’s stopping you from writing a check to the IRS. Put your money where you mouth is.

Sorry. So many adoptees long to find their real parents and, quite often, it ends badly.

I think their REAL parents are the ones who raised and loved them.

Rush started by discussing the Thomas Sowell piece about who will speak for the Republicans.

This is important for 2012.

After much urging, Palin hater Pissant gave me a list of who he would favor the Republican nominee in 2012.

Don’t remember them all, but he included Jim DeMint, Mike Pence, Duncan Hunter (of course) John Bolton, Michelle Bachman and a couple of people I’d never heard of.

Except for Bolton, these people are currently in Congress. Let’s see how they speak up about taxes.

Let’s see their courage.

Bolton has no position to speak from but he’s on Fox, but he’s as exciting as a post.

Palin has no position but she speaks constantly via public appearances, facebook, etc.

How old is she? Her 70s or close enough? She needs to grow up. Don’t stop trying though I say but what do I know. When it’s over it’s over. Wish I went to visit my dad sooner than when he died...

Some pet activist wanted to make a point that people should get their pets spayed or neutered. He asked Rush about Rush’s pets and Rush graciously answered.

Rush then made the point that this is the pet owner’s own business.

I think it’s just a matter of too many people telling us what to do and making it a law.

I agree with dog fixing. Can hardly bear to look at pictures of abandoned pets in shelters.

Hardly the most important topic of the day, but kinda interesting. Who knows what the caller told Snerdly.

To close the loop on the pet spaying/tax cut hike issue:

The caller is not interested in the number of pets in the country or even in reducing the number of pets in shelters. The caller is interested in controlling Rush and making sure that Rush does not have to much freedom or too many dogs. He will be happy if Rush is restricted, even if this results in more pet overpopulation, because he is really interested in controlling the behavior of others.

Surely if Rush were to breed his young dog, he would be the prototypical proud pet papa, and would talk incessantly (more than golf!) about his new puppies. How many of his twenty million listeners are going to hear that and run out and pick up a dog from the shelter? How much will this reduce the numbers of unwanted pets? Rush, by being free to do what he wants, would have the very effect the caller claimed that he cared about. But, at the end of the day, that is not really what the caller cared about.

Similarly with taxes. You can prove, over and over again, that tax cuts for all, and particularly for the "rich", will increase revenue to the treasury. It works every time it is tried. But at the end of the day, the people who claim to care about reducing the deficit and increasing revenues will insist on tax hikes, because what they really care about is class warfare, and taking away from those they consider to have too much. The important thing is the resentment, the class envy. The important thing is that the rich be made to suffer, even if it reduces revenue to the government and hurts the poor.
