Cops: Parents kept five kids hidden

YORK, Pa. - They lived outside society, hidden from the world in a squalid row house with no heat, electricity or running water. They had no birth certificates, no schooling, no immunizations or evidence of medical care - nothing whatsoever to prove their existence.
Police in this south-central Pennsylvania city are still piecing together how the parents of five children - ranging in age from 2 to 13 - managed to conceal them for so many years. And why.
"I don't know what would possess them at all," said detective Dana Ward Jr., who tracked down the children after a child-welfare agency received an anonymous tip about the clandestine family.
Ward charged Louann Bowers, 33, and Sinhue Johnson, 45, with five felony counts of child endangerment. They are scheduled to be in court Friday. Both are locked up in York County Prison.

--snip--

Gross said that Bowers has studied more than 70 religions and adheres to a faith related to Islam.

--snip--

"She essentially doesn't show her face, except to her husband," Gross said.

He said that the family opposes vaccinations "based on some beliefs about impurity and pricks of the skin."

Sounds like a nice Amish couple eh? Oh wait, scratch that. It's just another whack-job woman way too nuts to find anything but a muzzie slave master. And they said she has studied more than 70 religions? So let me get this straight...islam was the way to go because a family of prisoners living in one room with a leaky roof and wallowing in their own filth is a pius existence? I think the journolista writing the story is trying to fob her off as educated so as to not make islam look so bad. I mean c'mon....she studied a good 70 of them before eenie-minie-moeing the muzzie mantra right? PUH-LEASE.
To add to this story there is the line...

....the family opposes vaccinations "based on some beliefs about impurity and pricks of the skin."

Apparently, living in filth isn't impure, and pricking the skin is a no no but living with a bat-sh*t crazy muzzie prick is alright.

By the way, they didn't print their pictures, but I found them in an update story here.

And here is the lovely couple...

There are these examples where it is necessary for someone to step in for the good of the children,

but I also know of a case where the argument was

“your fear of the state is irrational, so we’re taking all your kids”

York County Children and Youth Services became aware of the family through anonymous tips in 2003 and again in 2007, but police said that Johnson refused to cooperate with caseworkers.

So? They should have obtained a court order seven years ago. More evidence that the gummint cant do a whole lot right.

At least they weren’t using the kids to get more welfare money. Holder will probably charge them with lying to a census worker.

That sounds like backwoods West Virginia or Louisiana 30 years ago. Geez- you go to jail for failing to register with the FedGov now-a-days? What a "Brave New World" we live in.

Um, no. Try reading the article. They are in York COUNTY custody and charged with “five felony counts of child endangerment”.

Those mug shots are frightening, hope the kids get good intervention with happy healthy futures, hope those two nutjobs get put away for a long time with all parental rights severed.

Agreed. However, my concern with this story was purely about the atypical veil-wearing idiot following the atypical jailhouse muslim fool. These women are usually white, fat, ugly, and sharp as a bowling ball.
