In last weeks blog on the Presidents Blue Ribbon debt panels plans to cut the deficit, the suggestion of overhauling the current military retirement system seemed to go quietly unnoticed. This week a second panel has announced their plans to gut the military retirement system.

LIBs sure dislike the military, don’t they?
What Nimrods.
Heh heh heh! What a deal!!! Hey America! How's that hope and change thing workin' for ya? The illegal aliens are making out like bandidos! One "Dream" Act! Coming up! (No Dream Act for you gringo!)
I’m not saying that the military couldn’t cut some costs, but I’d like to see the majority of cuts come from items not specifically authorized under article 1, section 8 of the Constitution. Is that too much to ask?
How about they recommend NO RETIReMENT pensions for any Senator or REP? Hmmmmm? or that they get less, the longer they are in Congress????? This is a travesty!
Can’t they keep their grubby, thieving fingers off of anything?
Lets not forget that former SEIU president, Andy Stern is a member of the debt commission.
This is straight out of Bad Government 101. I saw them do this in California for years and years.
When the people bitch about what we’re spending or about taxes going up, cut the firefighters, the cops and the teachers. NEVER cut into the ranks of the legions of bureaucrats or into the WF&A.
Let’s hope we don’t find out what an all volunteer military thinks about this BS...if the real troops vote with their feet, the Military might have big problems finding anyone but gays who will take that kind of deal...
Not very smart to even suggest it. However I do like the idea of people getting out after 10 years (at a young age) and thereby avoiding the ‘lifer’ tag. It gives them the option of reconsidering a military career. Plus it gives the military a chance to avoid getting too top-heavy.
Too late to demand anything...but we know
Welcome Home brother...lets just enjoy that we are here!
(rants are good for us u know!..it’s called venting!!!
Big Picture..........it all works out in the end IMHO!)

Retirement pay is based upon the “...retirees last months pay...”
The last month’s base pay, not the actual pay a service member receives. Basic Allowance for Quarters (BAQ) and Basic Allowance for Subsitance (BAS), plus any other allowance and incentive pays, such as flight pay, are not included in computing retirement. Something many civilians do not realise.
I look at what this president has done in two short years and feel sick. Senior citizens are thought of as parasites, the handicapped are thought of people to be disposed of, now veterans are not entitled to what has been promised to them and what they have earned. How sick is this? We can give billions to foreign nations that despise us. Billions of dollars are spent on grants, aid and comfort for illegals. . . anything to buy votes.
It's almost as if this current administration is taunting all of us to rise-up against them. Don't let it rile you, I am a senior and have never felt more helpless, but I'm practicing patience because I know that this nation will prevail. Only two more years to go. We're in this together.

TRI CARE FOR LIFE This from a google search:

This option would help reduce the costs of TFL, as well as costs for Medicare, by introducing minimum out-of pocket requirements for beneficiaries. Under this option, TFL would not cover any of the first $525 of an enrollees cost-sharing liabilities for calendar year 2011 and would limit coverage to 50 percent of the next $4,725 in Medicare cost sharing that the beneficiary incurred. (Because all further cost sharing would be covered by TFL, enrollees could not pay more than $2,888 in cost sharing in that year.) http://www.cbo.gov/ftpdocs/99xx/doc9925/12-18-HealthOptions.pdf

Tricare fee increases imposed last week by the Defense Department will be repealed by a provision of the compromise 2010 defense authorization bill unveiled Wednesday by House and Senate negotiators.

The fee increases were announced on Sept. 30 and took effect on Oct. 1, but the defense bill, HR 2647, includes a provision barring any fee increases until the start of fiscal 2011.

Retired Army Maj. Gen. Bill Matz, president of the National Association for Uniformed Services, said the announcement of fee increases was shocking considering that the Obama administration promised earlier this year to hold off on any new fee Tricare fee increases until fiscal 2011.
President Obama and DoD assured NAUS and the entire military family earlier this year that there would rightly be no increases in any Tricare fees in fiscal 2010, Matz said. We took them at their word, and I cant believe that a co-pay increase like this was allowed to go forward, he added.
