Attorney General Holder heads to Zurich, Switzerland tomorrow to lobby to bring the World Cup to the U.S. in 2022.
Justice Dept. says Holder is making the trip to Zurich at the request of Pres. Obama to show US commitment to host World Cup in 2022.
Pres. Obama lost U.S. effort in '09 to host 2016 Summer Olympics. WH hopes Holder's mission to Zurich doesn't end up a Swiss miss.
Perhaps we'll find out more about the World Cup mission from Holder's cables in the next WikiLeaks document disclosures.

Because Holder is such a cuddly “people person”.
Obama probably has it in the bag. Holder would get credit and save his job. The TERRORIST TRIAL FIASCO has put enormous pressure for Obama to dump Holder.
Will someone please point out the relevant passage in the US Attorney General’s job description that covers lobbying for games to come to the US?

This move only panders to Latinos since professional soccer isn't popular in the States outside that community. In 12 years how much larger will their influence be? I suppose CA will be recaptured by Mexico, sure, but how does Lobbying for World Cup benefit the USA? /s
That would be the middle of his fourth term. When he ran in 2008 I figured his goal was to become President-for-Life, like Fidel, Mugabe, and Hugo Chavez. After the rise of the tea party movement, I decided he probably wouldn’t be able to get around the two-term limit. This suggests he may still hope to stay in office more than 8 years. He’ll need at least one more liberal justice to be sitting on the Supreme Court to get around the 22nd amendment. Maybe he expects to be able to appoint that person in his second term.

The only explanation I can think of is that this is a cover for Holder’s true reason for going to Switzerland.
