California: The bluest of states
Los Angeles Times ^ | November 28, 2010 | Editorial Staff

With Kamala Harris' victory in the state attorney general's race — a win she intends to make official Tuesday — California Democrats have defied national trends and achieved a historic milestone. For the first time since at least the 1930s, one party controls both houses of the Legislature and every one of the state's constitutional offices.

The power to obstruct has been the California GOP's most potent weapon in recent years, and though repeated use of it is partly responsible for the party's long trip to the wilderness, Republican leaders show no immediate signs of coming to their senses.

Republicans will someday field a decent set of moderate candidates; Republican legislators may even recognize that voters want constructive change rather than an organized blockade.

When they do, Democrats who lack a record of achievement could face the same wrath that many of their counterparts nationally already have felt. This is their opportunity — to produce or to squander.

What the Los Angeles Times liberals means are Republicans who agree to adopt socialism half way. Why? The Democrats give you all of it. They don’t compromise on their convictions and neither should our side. Liberty is not a subject that lends itself to being mortgaged.

Let me get this straight;these clowns are blaming REPUBLICANS for the economic disaster that is California?Let them go bankrupt. When the 111th Congtess is sworn in,the bailout money should stop.Let them reap what they’ve sown.Screw them.

Republican legislators may even recognize that voters want constructive change rather than an organized blockade. When they do, Democrats who lack a record of achievement could face the same wrath that many of their counterparts nationally already have felt.

So, the new explanation is that the election was all about lack of productivity and more moderate Republicans were voted in by the populace? Seems to me that facts are fast and loose in this article.

My hope for California is that the RATs pour on the gas and go hell bent into the abyss. Not that this would be good for Californians (legitimate Americans) but it would put the period on the end of the sentence. There may be a greater problem, though. Since far too many Americans don't seem to be able to read, punctuation won't matter. In that case, Let Americans migrate back into the US of A and seal off the borders.

Guess the LAT is facing the reality that when CA sinks, no one will care enough to throw them a life preserver. They made their bed, and they shouldn’t be surprised to see businesses flee that decrepit Socialist state.

It’s California - let them be as Democrat as they want - every county needs a good bad example to serve as the canary in the coal mine.

The only question I really care about is whether we bail them out once they go down the toilet, which they inevitably will. If the GOP wants to maintain the House and have any chance at the Senate and Presidency, they better not even consider it.

Let's admit it... the bar wasn't set too high when the Californians elected a "dead" woman to the Senate.

Stay tough.
Fight the good fight.
Forget the “moderate” RINO GOP..
This article is like so totally bogus.
I came to my senses 14 years ago when I moved FROM California and I am a native of Los Angeles.63 years old and live in totally GOP Florida.
Freegards,

Really?

Someone should look at the election results here in the People's Utopian Socialist Republic of Vermont

With being the "Firstest with the Mostest" when overwhelmingly voting for Dear Leader in 09, (as well as all other statewide results to include our 3 Stooges in Congress, Sanders, Leahy and Welch) VT was accorded the dubious distinction of being the "Bluest" State and I'm willing to wager that there is not a dime's worth of difference between the percentage of Far, Far, Left Moonbats here in the Green Mountain State then there is in Taxachussetts, Kalifornia or anywhere else!

Won't be long now, folks: Florida, here I come!!!!

The Soviet Union created the Iron Curtain and China had the Bamboo Curtain.

I’m guessing California will either have the Hemp Curtain or the Tamale Curtain erected to stop folks from leaving the ‘people’s paradise’.

Good Conservative California folks...get out while you can...

For heaven’s sake, just move next door to NH. They’re still GOP on a good day.

Au contraire, I think they’re counting on Bambi to throw them the life preserver. They expect all American taxpayers to man the rope, too.

Shrieks Kalifornia: “We’re Too Big To Fail! If We Were An Economy, We Would Be The Xth Largest! Pull Harder On That Life Preserver, Red State Productive Worker! My Face Might Go Under Water And My Makeup Will Be RUINED!”

heh heh. I’m sure tired of their liberal crap.

& I hope and pray they’re wrong about US bailing them out. But I’m afraid our illustrious House Republicans might cave.

Their problems are just beginning. I saw a list of companies who are building new headquarters out of the state. There will not be a fortune 100 left in 5 years. They will have to make it on taco stands. I believe they think the Fed will bail them out,

We can bet money on John Boehner caving on this. He’s totally lacking in stones. Heck, he may even give us a little cry...

I hope you are wrong about Boehner. I'm clinging to the belief that most Americans are fed up enough to keep up the pressure on Congress to knock it off with the crazy spending. When, not if, California starts mooing for a bail out...we all have to stand strong and hold the Congress’ feet to the fire.

LET THEM GO BANKRUPT. I feel for the avg. Californian that is stuck....but most have known for the last 15 years where this was going. I've read a few articles about the public pension funds going first. Oh, the humanity! A crappy 56 year old college “professor” all of the sudden won't get his $18,000 per month pension, and zillions of illegal aliens won't get their hand outs. Boo freaking hoo. Let the games begin.

Ah, yes. Now that those nasty Republicans are fully, finally out of the way, California is ready to be saved by the Democrats. Stay tuned....
