Canadian funnyman and actor Leslie Nielsen has passed away in hospital in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.
The star of comedy hits such as "Airplane" and the "Naked Gun" series dies of complications from pneumonia, according to his nephew Doug Nielsen, who lives in Richmond
Doug Nielsen told CJOB that the actor passed away at a hospital in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. The Canadian actor had been hospitalized for nearly two weeks as a result of pneumonia.
"Just in this last 48 hours, the infection has gotten too much and today at 5.30, with his friends and his wife by his side, he just fell asleep and passed away," Doug told the radio station.
Well, this makes it an easy question to the game “Dead or Canadian”.
Leslie playing the President of the US in another Zucker film.
Nielsen did a series of 11 two-minute commercials as spokesman with gravitas in defense of Philadelphia Electric back in the 1970s which were convincingly well done, I thought, during my four year stint in Philly. Later, I was pleasantly surprised by his comedic flair.
RIP
This is very sad news.
Airplane is one of my favorite movies. Without his comedic genius, it would have been another of those amusing, but entirely forgettable movies that are so common.
Peter Graves died earlier this year, on the ides of March I believe.
RIP Mr. Nielsen....Thank You for the many years of laughter.
I liked him in “Tammy and the Bachelor” with Debbie Reynolds and Walter Brennan. RIP.
From tough-guy and straight-laced roles to one of the funniest actors ever. This guy was a treasure, and he will be missed.
RIP.
It was lumpy taters.
;)
He died in a hospital???
What was it?
Well, its a big building with alot of sick people...but that’s not important now...
Rest in peace, Leslie...and thanks for all of the laughs!
The inspiration for “Baghdad Bob”. :)
“Men with Brooms” is OK if you’re a fan of Paul Gross (the guy in the middle of the photo). Leslie has a secondary role and doesn’t get to do much. It’s just a light romantic comedy.

I just had it stuffed
RIP. I will miss him. He was a really funny guy.
Oh no! One of the greats. I wish you godspeed, Mr. Nielsen... I shirley do.
He got to be the victim in a very enjoyable episode of Columbo

RIP
Paul Gross is one of a number of actors (along with Graham Greene, Gordon Pinsent, etc.) who unknowingly suffer the indignity of me saying to someone, "Hey! That's (character name) from The Red Green Show!"
Leslie Nielsen was one of the very few actors that my parents, my wife and my son all got a kick out of (as did I).
