The U.S. Air Force is ready to respond immediately if hostilities between the two Koreas escalate, Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. Norton Schwartz said Wednesday. Schwarz told reporters after North Korea's attack on Yeonpyeong Island, "The bottom line is that U.S. Forces Korea cetainly is monitoring the situation carefully."
He mentioned Osan and Gunsan in South Korea, Kaneda in Okinawa, Japan, and other U.S. Air Force bases in the Pacific to emphasize that the U.S. has plenty of firepower in the region. Schwarz added USFK Commander Gen. Walter Sharp "has operational control of Air Force assets that reside on the peninsula and can be augmented if required."

I am not expert but I would think NK has endless batteries of cheap artillery up and down the border.
You would have to carpet bomb the whole border at once.
NK Korea just shakes down SK every year or so. The whole thing is pathetic. NK can hold SK hostage forever.
The South Koreans have a very high standard of living so the last thing they want is reunification. Some people thought West Germans were self absorbed and materialistic but they took a lot of pain reunifiying with lots of taxes.
The South Koreans are not as charitable. Even though East Germany was a mess - it was light years better off than North Korea. The SK are more selfish than the Germans.
Kaneda is everywhere.

I love that obozo says he has to prepare an appropriate response for South Korea to take action or whatever nonsense he spouted. When the day comes that he doesn’t spew nonsense, we’ll all be too shocked to comment.

NK spends around 70% of its GDP on their military. Their military was the 5th largest until we destroyed Saddams. Now they are the 4th. They are backed by the largest, China.
They take the food they have and feed the army, letting civilians starve to death.
Whatever the status of their nuclear program, NK has extensive stockpiles of chemical and biological agents. They also have the systems to deliver those agents to anyplace in South Korea or Japan.
That insane SOB ran SAC as his personal fiefdom for a long time and didn’t start WW3. In fact, he did a lot to prevent it.
I wouldn’t call it worship. Its just admiration because when he wore the blue suit, he was the General and not the future politician, future lobbyist, or future military analyst as senior officers are today.
Enlighten me.
