Of the 150,000 travelers who have so far gone through Los Angeles International Airport on Wednesday, 133 have opted out of the full-body scanners and receive enhanced pat-downs, according to officials.

Nico Melendez, a spokesman for the Transportation Security Administration, said 17 of 19 body-scanning machines at LAX on Wednesday were operational. The scanners at Terminal 1 were off for at least part of the day, and Melendez said he didn't know why.

Many passengers paid little attention to the screenings.

But all 150,00 weren't put through the extra level of security, were they?

If not, how many of those who were opted for the pat down?

If all 150,000 weren't required to go through the additional screening, this info is disinfo.

But...But...But, the sheep baa, It makes us secure.

So what that they consider us criminals.

Who gives a damn about the Right ot be considered innocent of committing a crime until convicted , to the exclusion of a reasonable doubt, by a jury. For that matter, who gives a damn what the Constitution of the United States of America says. These dedicated heroes make me secure.

The fact that the Government has not prevented any plane from being blown up [the non Government passengers have]is ignored.

The fact is that secure people are not free and free people are not free, but who cares about something as trivial as freedom when they can be “secure”.

I went through the security checkpoint at Dulles Airport in DC Monday after arriving from overseas.

There was nothing out of the ordinary there (although the ordinary is pretty annoying)- I didn't have to go through the backscatter and nobody laid a hand on me. That was true for everyone going through at that time.

I saw two guys get wanded and that was it.

>I also refuse to fly. but I suspect that obamanation, in his desire to destroy America, would like to see the airlines in trouble and buy them with our money.....

Or he could let them fail and use that as his reasoning on why we need high-speed rail...
Then it’ll be trains for the masses and planes for the privileged.

Why don’t you spew your vitriol to the TSA ? You seem to be directing it at me and the airline industry. As far as the Constitution meaning squat to me where the F do you get that from? My original post simply said there were more effective ways of protest than boycotting the airlines. It’s really quite a stretch from that to the Constitution meaning squat to me. If you don’t like to fly, then don’t.

I love to fly, but I won’t put up with the bullsh*t to get on the plane. I’ll drive until the checkpoints start.

(/s) ..... There. I fixed it.

Nice rant. What's scarey is I've actually heard close to that from unengaged acquaintances who've believed it.

I fear not that we've reached the tipping point but that were past it and in that frozen moment looking down at our impending fate with horror.

I would imagine the real protest will reveal itself in a few months when the airlines realize how many of us are “Opting” to drive instead of flying.

The big airlines have already parked hundreds of plane in the desert boneyards.

Nobody is flying as much these days; it’s too damn expensive and far too damn much rigmarole.

I won’t fly unless my destination is more than about 12 hours away by car.

IIRC, I saw a local news report showing that there are x-ray scanners at only one terminal at DFW... for now.

But Love Field too? I doubt if Love Field even has a nudie-box. But they also have reports that the crowds were oddly absent. All day long on the day before Thanksgiving.

Imagine that.

Caught the reports again today. Same thing.

No lines, airports are practically empty while MSM is pushing "the opt-out protest failed."

Right, ok.

We will see who blinks first... TSA, MSM, airlines…

My money is on the airlines. If it turns out they lost, oh, a couple of hundred... million, then we are going to see some changes damn quick.
