WASHINGTON (RNN) - Fox News has turned down an advertisement in support of repealing "Don't Ask, Don't Tell," citing concerns about the ad's factualness.
The ad features generals from allied military forces saying that gay troops do not undermine combat effectiveness.
"The ad was misleading based on its presumption," said Dianne Brandi, executive vice president of legal and business affairs for Fox News.
Christopher Neff, deputy executive director of the Palm Center, which placed the ad, said Tuesday the organization "stands by the accuracy of the ad."

Neff said the concern seemed to center on the ad's opening line: "As the military prepares to end 'Don't ask, Don't tell,' our NATO allies have told us what to expect: Business as usual."
He said no other network the organization approached, including CNN, NBC and MSNBC, expressed concern and reiterated that the ad will air once budgeting issues are resolved.
The ad features two senior military officials who were asked to speak to an academic panel about their professional experiences. Neff said the ad states the facts rather than lobbying for repeal.
"This is important information to be considered as the nation and Congress address the issue," he said.
One of the generals featured in the ad, Maj. Gen. Simon Willis, former head of defense personnel in the Australian Defense Force, said he doesn't understand the controversy over repealing DADT.
"The lifting of the homosexual ban was a bit like Y2K," Willis said, referring to the late 1990s computer crisis that wasn't. "It was a non-event, and it continues to be a non-event," he said.
Neff also said the Palm Center didn't expect a problem with Fox News and hopes the network will reconsider airing the ad. He said he believes Fox's reluctance to air the ad might be because it considers DADT to be "on hold."
Defense Secretary Robert Gates is expected to release his review of DADT and its effect on military readiness on Dec. 1.
Repealing DADT isn’t the issue. The issue is going to be what happens when we are faced with having to promote officers based on sexual orientation and not ability.
Fox is going LIB
What happens when SSgt Joe and MSgt John go to Hawaii and get married?
They return and request placement on the base housing waiting list.
While A1C Mike and civ Sarah get bumped down the list by another mil2mil couple.
One example. It will open a pandora box.
Because they REFUSED to air the ad???
I think you may have misunderstood the article.
Good for Fox. I’ll bet poor Shep is crying himself to sleep at night.
Yeh, I did, Sorry...I am just too tired...
BLEH
Listening to the homo-perverts, you learn that they don’t even want a reasoned implementation - they want it gone without preparation. So now, an open sodomite rooming with a normal serviceman isn’t going to cause some disruption, especially if he’s as militantly homo as many of these activists are? Please!
Oh yes, let’s just keep playing with the Military based upon what other countries tell us we should do.
Women have called for and gotten a new Combat Uniform to suit their shape, one saying of the current ACU’s, The cut of the uniform and a females body type usually leaves us looking like a duffel bag.

What special design uniform would have to be created to suit the openly gay, one with posterior flaps?
I feel in my gut that I am being disobedient to God by accepting as normal homosexuality. It is not normal. I will never treat someone who happens to be gay any different than I would treat a straight person of the same gender. The problem with the gay advocacy groups is they want non-gay people to accept their lifestyle as on par with straight lifestyles and it doesn’t make logical sense to me. Are there straight people who are terrible and gay people who are wonderful? Yep. But to determine someones social relevance based on sex acts is degrading to all peoples. If I was to be gay I’ll hide it and suffer the wrath when I meet the Lord. But I won’t demand my neighbor not flinch when Mike and I kiss like a couple at thanksgiving. Or not look away if I was holding Mikes hand in public.
Good post. Thank you.
Bumpers
well, you might not think of DATING a lesbian...
Shep would feel more at home at CNN.
Can you imagine how busy CIS, NCIS, JAG, etc., are going to be once they start investigating and prosecuting “hate crimes” every time some barracks sodomite undresses the guy in the next bunk with his eyes and gets his face smashed?
They should allow the ad but only if it can be shown on Glenn Beck.
We should never accept it. It isn’t even a vice, it is a terrible sin.
I think you said it exactly right.
Well maybe if they're dykes but twinks I don't know about.
