1. Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee said Monday that Sarah Palin might well "run away" with the Republican nomination for president.
It's funny Huckabee should say such a thing, because he's got a lot of say over whether she does just that. And it has to do with whether he even runs in the first place.
As potential 2012 candidates weigh their prospects and determine their plans for the next presidential race, one thing is clear: that Huckabee and Palin inhabit largely the same space -- i.e. they each would perform well without the other, but they might undercut each other if they are in the same race.
There is currently a four-candidate top-tier consisting of Palin, Huckabee, former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich. And indeed, a new Quinnipiac University poll on Monday showed the four of them all huddled between 15 and 19 percent of the vote.
But while Huckabee and Gingrich have pretty broad support, the base of support for Huckabee and Palin is readily apparent, and for both of them, it starts with born-again evangelicals. The two of them combine for 46 percent of that vote, compared to just 26 percent for Gingrich and Romney. Palin and Huckabee are also the top two vote-getters among women and people without college degrees.
So why is that important? Because if any of the four frontrunners seems least likely to run for president, it would be Huckabee. And, if he doesn't take the plunge, where is his 26 percent share of evangelicals going to go? Where is his 18 percent share of women going? Who gets his 17 percent share of those without college degrees?
The obvious answer to all three of those questions is Palin.

Oh, that would be dreadful, too.
Absolutely not. No Huckabee, VP.
LOL!
Well this is one Palin supporter who will NOT vote for Huck or Mitt.
Pardon America.
Don’t vote HuckaPardon.
LOL. Roadkill. Well, he claims that he would still pardon Clemons with the same info he had at the time. Of course, he neglects to mention he was the pardon/clemency king.
American citizens...Freepers, Beware of this media....they are already telling us how we should vote.....pay no attention, they hate Palin, loath Huckabee, actually anyone who is slightly conservative will not have truth written about them. I am trying to research all Jim R. is saying about Romney...everyone should research all candidates top to bottom. The media is NOT our friend.
Saw the Huckster on Gretas show last night. Felt like I needed a shower. He just gives me the creeps...

There is a school of pastor that specializes in unctuous smarm. I am happier with the fire and brimstone types myself. They can be serious irritants, but you are seldom in doubt about where they really stand or what they will actually do.
Huck has no chance to win the nomination, Palin or no Palin. He needs to decide who he would rather have as the nominee, Palin or Romney. It ain't gonna be him. JMO.
What a bunch of transparent, rotten-to-the-core pukes the media are.
Since 1900, only one Republican became president by defeating an incumbent. That was Ronald Reagan. Here are four traits that might have helped his campaign, in 1980:
1. He was conservative.
2. He was a governor.
3. He sought the republican presidential nomination, in a previous election.
4. He was from the West.
These Republicans, who might run for president, in 2012, have at least three of those four traits: ex-Gov. Sarah Palin, ex-Gov. Mike Huckabee, ex-Gov. Mitt Romney, and ex-Interior Secretary Dirk Kempthorne. I hope that all of them will run, along with ex-VP Dick Cheney, Rep. Ron Paul, and Gov. Haley Barbour.
I hope that four of those seven will continue campaigning until the convention. If that happens, no one will receive the nomination before the convention, causing the convention to be suspenseful and exciting. More people will watch and hear the great republican ideas.
I saw that clip from The View on Fox ‘n Friends this morning. Joyless said Huckabee is her favorite Republican. *That* said everything!
Huckabee, like Frum, is a passive-aggressive.
Unseemly in a man, imv.
Fwiw, I remember the poll saying McCain was the only republican who could beat Hillary.........
“Saw the Huckster on Gretas show last night. Felt like I needed a shower. He just gives me the creeps.”
Agreed. He’s Jimmy Carter with an R after his name.
Good call. I think the GOP establishment will try to run a number of single issue conservatives in the primaries to chisel at her base though.
Huckster could be Romney’s stalking horse in order to give Romney the nomination and Huckster to obtain the VP nominee. It wouldn’t surprise me.
huck is a joke, and would stand ZERO chance against Palin, in fact none of the supposed front-runners would stand a chance against Palin.
>>>>Its funny they never mention Hucks Willie Horton problem. When the people hear about this Huck will be roadkill.
When Huck utters his ‘God-words’ the evangelicals brains glaze over, and nothing matters anymore.
No sugar coating, just tell us what you really think.......
:-)
Well I hear Huck is into popcorn squirrel. :)
