Newsweek magazine is well known for its' support of President Obama.
But a recent cover headline declares "God of All Things", superimposed on an image of the President with seven arms balancing on one leg. In each hand, he carries a different policy issue.
The magazine is subtitled, "Why the Modern Presidency May be too Much for One Person to Handle."
The image is reminiscent of depictions of the Hindu deity, Shiva.
Shiva is known as the destroyer of the world in the Hindu religion.
But the depiction has upset some in the Hindu community.
Fox News reports:
Rajan Zed, president of the Universal Society of Hinduism in Nevada, told the English-language Sify News in India that Nataraja is highly revered and meant to be worshipped, not indecorously thrown around. Zed, who is known for his work on interfaith dialogue, said it is not OK to use Hindu concepts and symbols for profit or self-serving purposes.
The accompanying article is intended to show the job of President is so daunting, it is difficult for one man to do alone, but how that translates to "god of all things" is puzzling. Perhaps Newsweek is hinting at the 'need' for an even larger, more intrusive and tyrannical government. Remember, this is the magazine that declared, "We are all socialists now".
American Presidents are generally not depicted as deities, but history shows that dictators like Julius Caesar often required their subjects to worship them as a god.

I count at least three things he should not be juggling.
There is just something evil about this. Can’t quite put my finger on it...
Bush did it, but now The Presidency is “too much for one person to handle”......LOL!
There, fixed it for you.
To the typical Newsweek subscriber he IS.
I suspect the real intent of the story is to undermine our Constitutional Republic by suggesting that the office of the President, occupied by one individual, is no longer a viable institution.
The magazine is subtitled, "Why the Modern Presidency May be too Much for One Person to Handle."
1) They never cut George W. Bush any slack on this.
2) If Sarah Palin becomes president in 2012, you won't see a subtitle like that on a magazine.
3) Obama has an unprecedented number of czars to help him run the government. He created this thing -- if he can't handle it, then it just tells us that he, as an individual, was a really poor choice for the office.
4) If they think the job is too big for one man, what is the proposed solution? Split the country the way the Romans did? Eastern Roman Empire and Western Roman Empire? I would LOVE that!! I support secession -- the Red and Blue states can form two different countries and we'll see which country proposers.
Odd...I count six...
“Why the Modern Presidency May be too Much for One Person to Handle.”
They trotted the BS out when Carter was failing too...then Reagan came along and showed them how to do it.
It IS too much...if the one person is an incompetent community organizer.
I guess Obama, with the help of 40 Czars and the largest Executive Branch in US history, cannot handle a job that 43 other men managed properly before him.
They probably did a similar article on Uncle Joe back in the day.
I think it is racist to say the first black president cannot handle a job that 43 white men handled just fine.
Sorta reminds me of Jack Nicholson's comment that, when his mother called him a bastard, she never got the irony of the statement. Obama and the MSM don't see the irony of calling his primary advisers czars.
One of the most asinine covers I’ve ever seen. However, in this picture he’s only holding the 6 items. Once he starts juggling everything will fall down except for the dove of peace who will fly around and crap on his head.
Perhaps he just bit off a little more than he can chew.
Scale back the size of government to make it more manageable!
“This takes media bias to a whole new level”
Nah. It’s the same ol’ level.

They only implied the “evil” part.
But the audience knows........
Welllllllll, you are right. The only one I really care about is the Blackhawk. So, OK, ditch five :)
