For travelers going through Spokane International Airport - or any airport - this holiday season, the choice is simple. Either go through a device that allows security personnel to see your body through your clothing, get felt up and groped, or find another way to your destination.
According to an article at the Sun-Sentinel:
The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) is warning that any would-be commercial airline passenger who enters an airport checkpoint and then refuses to undergo the method of inspection designated by TSA will not be allowed to fly and also will not be permitted to simply leave the airport.
If you refuse to be scanned or groped, you could face a penalty of $11,000 and possible arrest.
Miami-based TSA spokesperson Sari Koshetz told the Sentinel that passengers who first submit and then refuse the process would be questioned by authorities "until it is determined that they don't pose a threat"
The Sentinel reported that the ACLU is urging Americans to petition the Department of Homeland Security to change the policy. In a statement, the group said,
"All of us have a right to travel without such crude invasions of our privacy. Tell DHS Secretary Janet Napolitano to put in place security measures that respect passengers' privacy rights. You shouldn't have to check your rights when you check your luggage."
But the TSA plans to continue the invasive practice.

The heavy handed threat coming now, just days before the biggest travel season of the year and the National Opt Out Day is pre-emptive. They are NOTHING but thugs.
I will be paying especially close attention to the news over the next couple of days, hoping a huge number opt out.
A year or two from now, when it is discovered that the radiation imposed on us is deadlier than smoking, what will they say?
A new side issue to the groping phenomena exposed by that report - now they are citing you if you film them assaulting passengers.
“Powell also stated that there was another arrest of a woman who was allegedly illegally filming the x-ray, and TSA screening process with a video camera. The young womans camera was confiscated and she was given a citation and released from Harbor Police custody.”
We move ever closer to a freedom less security state everyday. Personally i’d be fine with living with a tiny bit more risk and a few less patdowns and CTV cameras.
Get a micro camera. At your favorite search engine, try “spy camera.” Lots of delightful little gadgets out there.
I would also like to hear CAIR’s position on this. It might be interesting.
“...now they are citing you if you film them assaulting passengers.”
And I thought it was great that passengers were taking pics and videos...
PING!

Saw this this morning: Janetalia Napalitano. Perfect name. Like Lindsay Grahamnesty. Pass it around!
Followed by a PA announcement of ... Housekeeping there is a wet spill in booth 4 .. wet spill in booth 4.
LOL
No doubt it will spread to the other areas of transport whether needed or not.
And, our Conservatives ought to be making tons of political hay out of this, but I’m not hearing/seeing them make enough ruckus. They ought to be running for the cameras just like Chuck-u Schumer does.
By the end of this decade ALL passengers will be required to drink a laxative, then sit in public view on a clear glass toilet bowl until something happens.
When the Patriot Act was signed in to law.
“All men should show up in kilts with no underpants.
All women should wear a dress or skirt, also sans underpants to the airport.”
I declare Nov. 28th National Travel Commando Day. LOL.
Just now saw your reply.....Thanks for the Laugh!
Spokane - scan and grope opportunity.
Lovely.
I thought only one out of five Americans was mentally ill.
Yep. It hurts the airlines, who then go screaming to big government, who may finally start listening. This has been going on for years, and people have just gotten fed up with the whole mess. Government wouldn't listen to single complaints, but they will listen when an entire industry screams. If the airlines start going down, TSA will follow.
PING to #27.
Unless destroying the economy IS the goal. The gov’t bails out an airline, and then we have no choice on who to fly. Areoflot all over again.
