Glenn Beck said today that he has spoken to military experts about the mystery contrail from a few weeks ago and he says its definitely not a plane, but rather a two stage missile. He just wants to know where it came from, and he has a theory. Beck postulates that this missile was possibly from a Chinese sub off the coast of California, perhaps as a show of force to the world, but even more so to President Obama.

Look at the pic below from the Cargo Law web cam. It was a taken from a position a few miles north of where the video was taken. This lets us see the contrail in semi-profile rather than straight on so that there can be no mistaking the direction of travel. And guess what -- the object is clearly headed from west to east. There is no debating this:
A few posters have tried to dismiss this pic because its timestamp is one hour ahead. But this is a weak objection. A note at the Cargo Law site explains that the error is due to the time change which occurred the week before. Apparently they didn't update their timing source. This explanation is perfectly plausible.
But the timestamp is beside the point, because if you take a few seconds to study the contrail in the Cargo Law pic and compare it to the contrail in the video stills, it's obvious that they're one and the same.
Every kink and twist is the same (taking foreshortening into account). The thin horizontal cloud to the left of the contrail is the same. Even the little cloud to the right of the contrail is the same. How can this possibly be unless it's the same contrail? I want to hear the missile cultists explain it.
This one pic alone destroys the missile theory.
Why, only a complete idiot would debate it with you!
Then what are you talking about?
You're moving right along...
It's slow going having asked for it more than a week ago.
Lurkers, go outside tomorrow night, or the next night, or ANYTIME when the sun is below the horizon, such as sunrise -- and spend 20 minutes of quiet time studying how it illuminates the clouds AND, if you're lucky, any airplane contrails that happen to be in the air. God willing you won't be eyewitnessing any missile launches for a real eye-opener.
Then make up your own mind and IGNORE any and all still shots shoved in front of your eyes except those that you know and have confirmed were screen-grabbed from the Leyvas video, or better yet, watch the Leyvas video outright. There is not one single solitary frame capture of the Leyvas video that wouldn't stand perfectly well as a still shot, and still shots are deceptive with regard to contrails and plumes in a way that video is not. If anything is going to lie to you, it will be a still shot, so it's better to watch the Leyvas video.
If I have pride, it is in being open enough to look at ALL aspects of the evidence, and having the patience and energy to "go the extra mile" with graphics and precise explanations to share my findings with others.
And, I suppose I could take a bit of pride that you (and your experts) have yet to come up with a factual error in any of my work.
It's not "pride"; it's work ethic. So far you have seen less than half of the graphics and explanatory text that I have prepared on this subject.
Your inabilty to show gratitude for my honest attempt to help you develop the ability (which you publicly deplored your lack of) to share your own images speaks volumes about your character. You can label it yourself, but it looks to me a bit like that "P-word" with which you insist on labeling me.
P.S. My new tagline is in your honor...
Obviously the same contrail. Obviously headed eastward. Case closed.
No it doesn't. It's flying eastward with a ground track pointed almost directly towards the viewer. This makes its direction somewhat ambiguous. It means you have to rely on secondary visual cues to discern the direction. These are much less reliable, which is precisely why people are getting confused.
But there is no ambiguity in the Cargo Law pic (below). It was taken from a position further north, which means we get to see the flight somewhat in profile. And what we see is that it travels from right to left -- which means west to east when viewed from a position to the north.
Just look at the pic and let your common sense speak to you. What it's saying is "Hey man, don't be a schmuck. That thing is clearly headed inland to the east."
It is you who must prove that a "missile" that takes off from an ocean in deep shadow manages to do so in bright sunlight.
All I'm doing is amassing data, working with a (wait until you learn the actual size of this) "huge cabal" of folks who enjoy solving puzzles like this -- all the while having our characters, motives and patriotism questioned by folks who have jumped on the back of a lie and must hang on for dear life -- or take a big, public pratfall.
Stick to the problem, dearie; the personal attacks are having no effect -- aside from wasting a minuscule amount of time and effort in response. And chalk that up to a modest residual of respect for a fellow FReeper and aircraft buff...
In the meantime, do you know the Long Beach time and azimuth of sunset on the day before my 73rd birthday?
I asked you this earlier but you didnt answer. I assume the answer is yes.
For the record, I do not believe in "chemtrails" or UFOs or even "threads of Pern" either.
As a matter of fact, I am especially turned off by ContrailScience because its existence seems to give tacit validation that chemtrails may be an arguable concept. Anyone that gives any attention to chemtrail advocates should be admitted to an asylum.
Since you’re such a sensible guy, how do you explain the plane flying from west to east in the Cargo Law webcam pics? (see posts 541, 546, 547)
On that we agree, but I was too kind to say it......
On that we agree, but I was too kind to say it......
I did the very first time someone posted a link to it over two weeks ago. I saw no posting of all of Warren's pics then or a link to them.
The .zip file you posted a link to won't open. An error message says it is invalid or corrupted. Thanks for getting me to download 37 megabytes of nothing.
I hope you don't intend to include me in that group. I pointed out that cBS published edited video and billed it as "RAW" -- and analyzed the temporaal swaps that you discussed. You're one of the few posting here who seems to grasp the order in which those clips actually occurred...
How it looks when viewed more from the side (Cargo Law pic):
This perspective is less ambiguous and clearly shows it flying from west to east.
Case closed.
No it doesn't. What compass point is the camera pointing to? How does that compare with the direction the Sky2 camera was pointed? Where was the Sky2 camera? What is the actual time this webcam took that pic? How can you determine the direction of whatever is pictured there since it is a still pic?
Case re-opened.
To paraphrase what one of my Ham friends used to say to us back when we were experimenting on TELNET with 300 baud ASCII over noisy land lines, "Must have rained somewhere on that string between your tin can and his..." '-)
I hardly feel justified in apologizing for something that, AFAIK, works fine.
Guess you'll have to hunt down Rick, and get them directly from the source.
Good luck!
I can’t think of any reason why they aren’t just posted as jpegs on his website.
As you know, I categorically disagree with your assessment. I detected rapid vertical acceleration in the early segments of the video with the missile arcing into the Northwest where there was less apparent motion as it made its way obliquely through the Stratosphere.
And how would I know how how much video he shot? The Cameraman, Gil Leyvas, said they watched it for ten minutes. I only assumed they recorded it for that length of time.
