TSA Agents Absolutely Hate New Pat Downs, Find Them Disgusting And Morale Breaking
TechDirt ^ | Nov. 19, 2010 | Mike Masnick

One of the common themes that people keep mentioning in talking about the new TSA pat down procedures is that those involved must "enjoy" the groping they're giving people. But, of course, most TSA agents are normal every day people who don't actually want to grope random people. Chris Tolles points us to a post from BoardingArea.com, who reached out to some TSA agents and found that many TSA agents hate the new rules and find it to be sapping morale to have to grope passengers. Some of it appears to be the verbal abuse they're getting from travelers, but some of it is just the fact that they have to keep touching people they'd rather not touch in that way:

"It is not comfortable to come to work knowing full well that my hands will be feeling another man’s private parts, their butt, their inner thigh. Even worse is having to try and feel inside the flab rolls of obese passengers and we seem to get a lot of obese passengers!"

Of course, it does seem like a lot of the "morale" part comes from everyone accusing them of molesting them. I recognize, they're not the ones making policy, but many of the people being groped do feel violated and it's not surprising that many of them speak out.

I had a friend who wouldn’t co-operate with something she knew was illegal. It cost her in raises and promotions.

The payback was when the boss and the guy they got to do it went to jail for it.

She really saved her butt by refusing.

I air trveled a lot some years ago with just a bit of inconvenience. The new pat-down stuff would have made me angry. However, with what the enemies have been pulling off the last few years, I believe some procedural changes are necessary. Perhaps there could be something like a certified flyer’s licence with photo, checked at the boarding gate in the USA and checked by a plane officer when boarding in foreine countries. The FL would have a much more involved investigation with an official certification than a passport. People who travel frequently might not complain about a one time vouching process and people who infrequently will have to plan ahead.

The *frequent flyer* type card you suggest would be just another way the government could take control of us.

No thanks.....

You need to realize that at this site, people don’t take that kind of stuff lying down.

The government isn’t here to protect us from ourselves, or to decide for us what’s best for us.

If you want to surrender your rights, that’s your prerogative, but don’t even try to imply that it’s a reasonable thing to do. You won’t last long here at that rate.

A profile would be included in the certified travel license. No profile -no boarding.

The real reason for the “groping” is to get people to accept the scanners. Then once the population accepts the see-through-the-clothes scanners at the airport they will start rolling them out and train stations, bus terminals, stadiums and everywhere else.

We are well on track to becoming a total surveillance society.

Ding,Ding,Ding,Ding, we have a winner!!!

There are many retired vets working in some of those airports that take pride in what they do, and joined after 9-11 to make a difference again. And there are hoodlums also.......Kinda painting a broad brush there aren’t you?

It cost me a promotion and later made me leave the company (not that there weren’t some other issues!). My current job I have always been very clear about such things, and have never been asked to look the other way.

My old boss did tell me that while he respected my stand, I would never get ahead in business by being honest. I fear he was right.

If the jury did not convict, there would be another trial or the case would be moved to a court with only a judge.

Fedgov does not like to be mocked, and has little regard for the law.

They should quit their job if they feel what they are doing is wrong. I would never keep a job in which my integrity was at stake.
