TSA pat-down leaves traveler covered in urine (Non-muslim bladder cancer survivor)

A retired special education teacher on his way to a wedding in Orlando, Fla., said he was left humiliated, crying and covered with his own urine after an enhanced pat-down by TSA officers recently at Detroit Metropolitan Airport.

“I was absolutely humiliated, I couldn’t even speak,” said Thomas D. “Tom” Sawyer, 61, of Lansing, Mich. Sawyer is a bladder cancer survivor who now wears a urostomy bag, which collects his urine from a stoma, or opening in his stomach. “I have to wear special clothes and in order to mount the bag I have to seal a wafer to my stomach and then attach the bag. If the seal is broken, urine can leak all over my body and clothes.”

On Nov. 7, Sawyer said he went through the security scanner at Detroit Metropolitan Airport. “Evidently the scanner picked up on my urostomy bag, because I was chosen for a pat-down procedure.”

The most simple and basic common sense would have had these goons at TSA leaving the guy alone on they figured out he had medical equipment attached to his body. That they harmed that innocent man is just plain evil. I hope he sues.

I have a question that may or may not add fuel to the (enhanced pat down) fire.

All of the Airports that I traveled in and out of are a part of a municipality with local law enforcement having jurisdiction over the Airport and Airport property.

Almost all Cities and States have laws concerning inappropriate touching, therefore wouldn’t it be valid for law enforcement posted at the Airport to detain or arrest “anyone” (TSA included) committing the illegal action of inappropriate touching?

Remember when the Left was screaming about Bush’s assault on privacy because he dared to intercept phone calls between suspected terrorists overseas? For the liberals eavesdropping on terrorists phone calls= Police State. Groping Granny’s Groin= no big deal.

Yeah, and don't forget... all Bush did was monitor 'suspected' terrorist phone calls plus a little waterboarding and panties on the heads of already arrested terrorists and enemy combatants. Zero is sending out predator drones to kill 'suspected' terrorists (plus any unfortunate innocent civilians). I think the best question to be asking is “Where does it end?”.

Apparently, there will be no end to it that we could ever morally accept as the “new normal”.

We can’t carry on as though gross error in the name of an “abundance of caution” or to “err on the side of caution” is the way it has to be.

Does the TSA’s quality assurance and continuous improvement program include the “voice of the passenger”? Does the TSA even have a quality initiative?

Looks like any one who has had cancer or surgery are in for a ROUGH time from TSA. I sure wouldn’t want any one probing my thick C-Section scar (from 2 of them), it would be painful. And my baby is now 28. Bet people with pace makers, metal screws from breaks, etc are in for a ROUGH time flying and should opt for driving if at all possible.
