Posting of “copyrighted material” will be grounds for shutting down websites. So if DU’ers come over here and plant “copyrighted material” and then run and file a case against FR with the FCC, we get shut down (or are forced to defend against said charges, all in the name of protecting intellectual property. I smell a HUGH and SERIES rat!

"On Thursday, the Senate Judiciary Committee unanimously approved a bill that would give the Attorney General the right to shut down websites with a court order if copyright infringement is deemed central to the activity of the site regardless if the website has actually committed a crime. The Combating Online Infringement and Counterfeits Act (COICA) is among the most draconian laws ever considered to combat digital piracy, and contains what some have called the nuclear option, which would essentially allow the Attorney General to turn suspected websites off. "
I doubt they will limit their "nuclear option" to ridding us of just hacked/wares sites. They (Holder & Co.)will abuse this and use it against their "enemies"! Death by a thousand papercuts...

I’m wondering if the Righthaven lawsuits were the ‘trial balloon’?

Posting of copyrighted material will be grounds for shutting down websites.I would think FR (even DU) redirects a huge amount of internet traffic to the original producers of said "copyrighted material" and such traffic would evaporate if this became law.

You read it here first! Anybody could do it from an internet cafe - shut it down first, ask questions later ... for the next five years. Danger Jim Robinson!
